Varsity, junior varsity teams meet opponents The varsity volleyball team hosted Burns Thursday, October 29, 1992. The Buffs fell short 9-15, 5-15 to the Hilanders. They served 85 as Stephanie Harris was 9 for 9. Offen sively the Buffs totaled 13 for 15 kills. Coach Margaret Sturza stated, "I felt we were never mentallv in the game. Burns played very well-thcy got everything up, which is evident, when you see that we only got 13 kills on offense." The first game MHS fell short 1-15 as Burns came on strong right from the start. The only point MHS made was a kill from Rebecca Grotc. In game two, consecutive serves played a key role as Madras won 15-3. The third game was close as the Buffs came out on top 16-14. Burns received two "In the net" calls and an illegal backrow attack. Serving was at 94, Betsy Cordill was 11 for 11 and Brook Luther was 9 for 9. for their efforts this season. Warm Springs, Oregon ... j Chet VanPelt blocks the ball hit by Carlos Calica. The J.V. squad then participated in a five team tournament on Satur day, October 31 at ML View High School. The other four teams included Bend, Lakcview, Redmond, and Mt. View. The teams played round robin style throughout the day and played two games to 15 points. For the Buffs, the scores were as follows: vs. Redmond 15-11, 15-5, vs. Lakevicw 15-9, 15-7, vs. Mt. View 15-8, 15-8, and vs. Bend 15-10, 12 15 which gave them a 7-1 record. Coach Marsha Armstrong felt, "They played their best ever!" "I felt like the team, excited to have beaten the biRRer schools." Coach Armstrong felt both offense and defense did a terrific job. Serving was 92 percent for the day (182196). Alter tnc round robin scries one game to 15 was played for single elimination. The Buffaloes came up to play Bend and lost 1 1 -1 5, as Bend went on to win over Mt. View. The Buffs took home third place. The junior varsity team showed everyone how well they could perform as -a team. Coach Armstrong slated, "It was good to sec them play to their potential. I'm proud of them!" If you and your group have not entered yet, the deadline Tor entries is Friday, November 1 3. This is also the deadline for T-shirt orders. Sign up is now being accepted at inc Recreation office. To enter you arc required to pay a $3.00 fee, and if you wish to receive a T-shirt the fee is $5.00. Pick up your individual time sheet logs. Se lect a person to be captain and heshe will be the contact person for your team. Any organization is eligible to enter, for example: Warm Springs Tribal Organization, Bureau of In dian Affairs, Indian Health Service, Warm Springs Elementary, Kah-Ncc-Ta, and any outside individual, group or organization. Acceptable exercises are only specific activities engaged for exer cise reasons. These include: walk ing, jogging, running, bicycling (outdoorindoor), swimming, skiing (downhillcross country), and aero bic dance. Others include: wcighllifting, handball, racquctball, skating (iceroller), conditioning Winter rodeos scheduled for November, December, January, February The Alps Rodeo Stock contractor presents the Winter Indoor Rodeos for the 1992-93 event The first of four rodeos will be held November 14, 15, 1992, with thestarting timcof 1:00 p.m. There will be Slack after the Saturday rodeo if needed. The second rodeo will be held December 12, 13, 1992 with show time at 1 :00p.m. The third rodeo will be held January 16, 17, 1993,and the final of the four rodeos will be on February 20, 21, 1993. Rodeo events will include Bull Riding, Saddle Bronc, Bareback, Calf Roping, Team Roping (enter twice), 2 loops, open gate, Steer Wrestling, Wild Horse Race. All the above events the entry fee will be $35.00, the Team Roping is $35 per man, also the Wild Horse Race the fees are $35.00 per man. Other events include Breakaway Roping, Barrels 14 and over, Goat Tying 14 and over, Jr. Bulls ages 14- Tulalip Tribe hosts tourney The Tulalip Tribes will be hosting their annual "Thanksgiving Basket ball Tournament" November 27, 28 and 29, 1992. Thus will be a 16-team true double elmination tournament.
