Jessie Esquiro 12 8.05 Nespelem All-Indian Championship rodeo results With the Nespelem All-Indian Championship rodeo held just recently the results of that show as turned in by Jeannetta Herrera, WSIRA secretary, will follow. This was a duel sanctioned rodeo with the WSIRA and WIREA of Canada. All results are from the major rodeo events where the points count toward the trip to the Nationals. The Nespelem rodeo was held on July 13-14, 1991. The winner of the bareback event was a Canadian cowboy Nelson Stewart who scored a 77, to top all other cowboys. In the saddle bronc was another Cana dian cowboy marking a 71 to win that event. In the bull riding it was Shawn Best of Omak and a mem ber of WSIRA, who marked a 72, to win that event. This seemed like a place for the Canadian cowboys as they won the team roping event as Neal Antoine and Blaine Louis roped their steer in 6.00 flat. In the steer wrestling another Canadian cowboy won the event with the time of 10.62, turned in by Kevin Hok, with the WSIRA cowboy taking second as Clyde Colliflower turned in the time of 15.27 Mel Joseph, a cowboy from Lone Pine, California, always tough in the timed events, won the calf roping with a time of 14.00. ; Joseph also won the cow milking event with the time of 32.76. , Crystal Colliflower of the WSIRA ' won the womens breakaway rop ( ing with the time of 18.35. Crystal Colliflower was third in the girls barrel race as a pair of home town girls topped the field. But Colli flower was the only one from the WSIRA. Results of Fun Run given On Saturday, July 27th the Recreation department sponsored Jefferson County Fair Fun Run at Sahalee Park in Madras. The race included a 1.0 mile fun run walk, and a 4.75 mile run. The rodeo is W.S.I. R.A. sanctioned. On Saturday, 8 a.m., at the Chi 'oquin Grade School, there will be Tupper fun run. The rodeo will start at 1:30 p.m. Sunday begins with a cowboy breakfast at 8 a.m. at the rodeo grounds, the cost is $2.50 a plate. Cowboy church services are at 10:30 a.m. in the grandstand area. The rodeo begins at 1:30 p.m. The cost for the rodeo will be $3 for adults, Senior Citizens and children (age 6-12) $2. under 6 are free. There will be a $7 contestant fee along with the Entry fees. The show will feature the regular major rodeo events of saddlebronc, bare back, bull riding, calf roping, team roping, steer wrestling, cow milk ing, girls barrel race and girls breakaway roping, with an added purse of $500.00, no limit and one go. There will be seven standard events, saddle bronc, bareback, bull riding, calf roping, team roping, steer wrestling and girls barrel race. There will be no cow milking at this show. There is no limit in all events except the bull riding which is limited to 30. There is $150 added purse for each event, w ith the entry fee of $40, contestants fee $7, CES $2 and SI for the electric eye.
