Wc arc finally enjoying the warmth of summer these past few days after months of cold, miserable weather. All during those cold days the general saying was, "When will we ever get some good warm weather?" Well, it happened and the first thing some people said, "Oh! This miserable heat!" No one is ever completely satis fied with whatever kind of weather there is. If it snows, we don t want it. If it rains we don't want it. So, what's there to do? One thing is for certain now. We are enjoying some nice hot days. The hay fields look like tney are ready to be cut and you know what that means. Every time people cut their hay, it rains, and the hay must be dry before it can be baled. One time in the past there was a personal joke like whenever it rained it was said, "Ed must have cut his hay!" There were all kinds of reasons why we have been having such bad weather but no one can really tell why it has been the way it was. With the good weather at hand, there are a lot of picnics and outings going on with people having a ball outdoors, but the sad thing of the whole situation is with the warm weather here perks up the fire danger in the country. The grasslands are real dry and can become a pretty hot fire in no time at all. With the rains we've had this year, the grass is pretty tall in spots and grew right up to the sides of old buildings which makes it more dangerous. So everyone better be careful with fire and in some places, if Smokey catches you smoking ne win crusn your Dutt.'! Ann-Nahh-Lhi-I ooiv Nephew expresses affection What is an uncle?., An uncle is a person who you can look up to when you are a little boy or when you are a grown man. He Is someone who is like a father to you and gives you all his love with no questions asked. An uncle is the person who has all the answers when you need the answers. He is also the person who takes you places when your own father does not have enough time for you. An uncle is also a loving and caring man who shares all his love with you and always goes to your football and baseball games. He treats you like his own son and he talks to you like an adult even when you are a little boy. He takes you on vacations and fishing trips and on outings with his family and makes you feel like you fit in with his family even though you are only his nephew. An uncle is a loving, caring person who makes me feel like an important person. You fit in all these catagories and much more so you are the greatest uncle a nephew can ever be blessed with. I love you uncle. Your loving nephew, Luke Sanders Employee says "Thank you" To the editor, I would like to take this time to thank the Confederated Tribes for the beautiful gold diamond watch band and watch with the tribal flag on it given to me at the 16th Annual Awards Luncheon. Also, I would like to thank the Award,, committee, Benny Heath, Norma 1 M. Smith and Antoinette Pampe rien, for all the work they put into the Awards Luncheon. I think a lot of people don't realize how much work is involved into getting the Awards Luncheon together. I saw how stressful it was waiting for the rings to arrive. (They were rushed in just as Norma was ready to hand out the awards). Ante is to be complimented for all of her hard work into research ing all of the records and making sure everyone is getting credit for all of the time spent working for the Tribe. She was digging deep into my files looking for student trainee work time. I wouldn't have gotten my award this year if it wer en't for the months counted as a student trainee. Also, I would like to mention what a wonderful meal was pre pared by Geri Blodgett and her helpers. And lastly, I would like to thank my neice, Robyn Ike, for her hard work baking the cakes, mak ing the puddings and frostings for me that were used for the lunch eon. Evette advises against driving drunk To the editor, Hi you all once more on the Res. How are you all now? As for me, I just want the res to know, that the Evette Patt upper higher number one greater power called God is really with me now, but I want everyone to know from Warm Springs that He is always with everyone here on earth! How I really know He is with me now, is that when I was in that very terrible automobile accident on March 17, 1987 trying to act cool drinking and driving, I was in a coma for 9 months and even died for 10 minutes from cardiac arrest too! I also want you all to know that God got me out of that wheelchair that I was in for 2'i years too, but the greatest thing he has done for me now, is that I'm not in that brain-damaged rehabiliatation cen ter no more. And when I used to be in that center, they all told me there that they really can't see how I'm one bit brain-damaged. Well, I just moved into a new adult foster group home, and this one other older women I got to meet and know turned me more into a Portland Trailblazers fan now, and alright! They are so cool. If I was in a very bad automobile accident a little over 4 years ago from trying to act cool drinking and driving. I'm so forever grateful that God found his time to give me a second chance and ressurected me from the dead the most too! I'm in a new house now if anyone else would like to write to me. Hallelujah!
