White Buffalo boys basketball up
BuffS Clobber Riverside
Madras High School basketball,
"As I See's Um." The Madras
White Buffalo boys varsity basket
ball team trampled the Riverside
Pirates by the score of 81-57. The
score could have been a lot greater
but Coach Joe Blincoe pulled his
regulars and used the bench play
ers as the reserves put in plenty of
playing time during the game.
Eric Peterson topped all scorers
with a total of 22 points, before
leaving the game in the second half
and Scott Moses added 16, Tony
Holiday 6, Ryan Boyle 8, Jeremy
Symons the only starter not to
score but was real good on the.

bounds on both ends of the court.
Mark Harris was 7 of 9 at the free
throw line and a goal to give him 9
points, while Leif Suppah added
three baskets of which one was a 3
pointer to give him 7 points. Jake
Coochise had 3 field goals and he
was I of 2 at the free throw line for
a total of 7 points. Ryan Grote 4,

Buffs ransack Grant
Union Prospectors
The Prospectors of Grant Union
couldn't find any gold round these
here parts as the White Buffaloes
ran at will to produce a lopsided
score before turning the bench
loose on them. Yep! the pickings
were pretty slim as the Prospectors
trailed 19-1 1 at the end of the first
quarter with Eric Peterson doing
plenty of damage. From there on
the Buffs controlled the game with
the reserves doing a lot of the
playing.
Eric Peterson led the scoring
with 19 points. The Prospectors
made a couple of mistakes by
backing away from Tony Holiday
and with clear view of the basket he
Holiday Bowling
The 15th Annual All-Indian
Holiday Bowling Tournament was
a great tournament this year. This
year's tournament (December 28,
29, 30, 1991) was held in memory
of Lester Tanewasha who for years
was a member of our local bowling
league. The Tanewasha family pro
vided some very nice wool leather
jackets for our first place men's
team division. Those jackets were
won by the Deschutes Crossing
team consisting of Alley David,
Ray Calica, Phillip David, and
Butch David. One additional jack
et was won by Lonnie Ogilvie of
Madras in the Masters event. To
the family went an honorable men
tion for their participation in the
tournament mixed team event.
We were pleased to be able to
host bowlers coming from Carson
City, Nevada and Susanville,
California. And further, we had
some fantastic bowling that week
end, John Wright took top honors
with rolling a perfect 300 game! We
had two centurio games bowled
(100 pins over average), Marie
Macy and Butch Miller. We had an
all-spare game bowled by Helen
Uribe (Carson City) and a tripli
cate series by Austin Greene.
Congratulations go out to those
bowlers.
Through the help and generosity
of various bowlers we were able to
feed the bowlers on Sunday after
noon. We would like to thank all
those ladies for their assistance
Charlotte Shike, Helena Jones,
Shirley Sanders, Joni David, Pat
Tanewasha family, Teeny Tappo.
If we did not include your name
please accept our apologies and
our thanks and appreciation for
your contributions.
We would also like to thank
those sponsors of our jackets for
the tournament. ..Tiger Mart,

Tufti shy about recent bowling feat
Alex Tufti, sorta shy when asked
about his fantastic series rolled
during Jr. league action in the
Pelton Lanes, Sunday night.
He chuckled and said his series
was 769, with his first game a
whopping 287, followed with his
second game of 265, but then he
calmly popped in a couple of three
pointers as he contributed 14
points tor the night. Scott Moses
was great under the basket getting
rebounds and had several assists
along with 10 points. Ryan Boyle
added 8 points to the cause while
Jeremy Symons also contributed 8
foints. Jake Coochise 8, Mark
larris 2, Ryan Grote 7, Lief
Suppah 10. In the final quarter
both teams went to the bench as the
game was well wrapped up for the
Buffs. Lief Suppah and Ryan
Grote's efforts in the fourth
quarter for the Buff bench was
outstanding as they combined for
17 points in the final quarter.
Jeff Graham kept the Grant
Union in the light with some spec
tacular shooting along with Rob
Gubser and Jake Taylor as the trio
done most of the scoring for the
Prospectors. Kooks like the Pros
pectors will have to stake claims in
other places as there was no gold
here in these there hills.

Baker City
In a sluggish third and fourth
quarter Baker managed to pull
away from the White Buff girls to
win 57-41, on a road trip for the
Buffs. The Buffs held a two point
lead at the half time but in the third
and fourth quarters it appeared as
though the switch was turned off
where the Buffs could only score 4
points to 19 for Baker and final
quarter was not much better for the
Buffs as they scored 9 points while
Baker came up with 12 to ice the
game.
