Anyone wanting to learn how to
lead aerobic exercise classes is in

given by Eva Montee. There will be
no charge for these classes. The

Vietnam Veterans of Tempe,
Arizona arc engaged in an effort to
construct a monument to honor
Ira H. Hayes and Gila River
Veterans. The monument will be
located on the N.E. corner of the
Sacaton Veterans Park.
The monument will be 8 feet
high, 20 feet long and 3 feet deep
and is composed of native stone at
the base. The front of the wall
facing east will have a 4'x 6' bronze
relief of the Iwo Jima flag raising in
which Ira H. Hayes participated.
On the wings of the monument will
be a listing in bronze of Gila River
Veterans who served in all the
major wars: WWI. WWII, Korean.
Vietnam. Special distinction will
be made for KIA, MIA, POW's.
Four (4) stones from Iwo Jima
have been requested which will be
added to the monument. Special
ceremonies will be held to receive
the sacred stones on arrival by a
Japanese Delegation. The sacred
stones will give this monument
proper consecration and be desig
nated as hallowed ground forever.

Must type 60 WPM accurately. Have some
experience in shorthand, briefhand, and
office machine skills, xerox, calculator,
word processor, transcriber. Have good
spelling, grammar and punctuation skills.
Have some knowledge of court procedures
and probation. Have some knowledge of
tribal administrative procedures.
Work outdoors in all weather conditions
and perform duties with community en
hancement projects, wood cutting project,
construction projects, basic maintenance
assistance and other labor projects. Must
be tribal member 18 years and older with
high school diploma or GED. Be in good
physical condition and highly dependable
and like challenge and variety of assign

Warm Springs Power Enterprise
building will provide community
members the opportunity to view
the new facility overlooking the
Pelton Reregulating Dam and to
ask questions.
Scheduled for 1:00 to 6:00 p.m.,
the open house will include a dedi
cation and blessing of the building,
displays and demonstrations.

Edward Henry, Sr.
Enrolled member of the Confed
erated Tribes of Warm Springs,
Edward Henry, Sr., 60, of White
Swan, Washington, died Friday
December 7, 1990, at the Yakima
Valley Memorial Hospital in Ya
kima. Henry was born March 10, 1930
at Lyle Washington, to Alex and
Josephine (Parker) Henry.. He was
raised at L yle and attended board
ing schools at Warm Springs and
Chemawa near Salem, and Top
penish. He was a member of the
Y.M.C.A. and the U.S. Marine
Corps Reserves in the late 1940's.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing,
basketball and softball. He played
professional baseball for the Lew
iston Broncs in 1954. He married
Elizabeth Seelatsee at Goldendale
on March 30, 1967.
He is survived by his wife,
Elizabeth, of White Swan; sons,
Joel Henry of Lapwai, Idaho, Ed
ward Henry, Jr. and Jay W. Henry
of Warm Springs; daughters, Jana
'ackson of Warm Springs, and
Jena Henry of Tacoma; step-children.
Michael Penney of Lapwai,
Sarah Harrison of Kennewick,
Leland Wilson of Portland, Donna
Wilson of Yakima, Shawashnye
Aleck of Toppenish, and Sharon
Wilson of Puyallup; a brother,
Vernon Henry and sister, Ellen
Henry Johnson of Warm Springs;
eight granddaughters, numerous
nieces and nephews. He was pre
ceded in death by his parents, two
brothers, Louis Henry, Sr. and
Elmer Henry, and sister. Ethel
Henry, two children, Allyn and
Chrysty Henry.
Dressing services were held on
Sunday, December 9 at the Merrit
Funeral Home. Overnight services
were held at Toppenish Creek
Longhouse in White Swan on
Sunday, December 9 and Agency
Longhouse in Warm Springs, on
Monday, December 10. Burial was
December 11, at the Lower
Seekseequa Cemetary in Warm
Springs, Oregon.
Patricia Marie Smith
Patricia Marie Smith, aged 40
died December 24, 1990 at the
Emanuel Hospital in Portland
after an extended illness. She was
born June 28, 1950 in Warm
Springs, Oregon to Patrick and Bertha
(Mitchell) Curley.
Smith attended schools in Warm
Springs and Madras and Summit
Grade School in Seattle. She at
tended junior and senior high
schools in Madras. She was a 1968
graduate of Riverside, Oklahoma.
Smith was a homemaker and a life
time resident of Warm Springs
except for attending high school in
Oklahoma.
Smith was an enrolled member
of the Confederated Tribes of
Warm Springs. She enjoyed bead
work, gathering choke cherries and
huckleberries, traditional sweat
lodge, drying fish and eels, food
gathering, root digging and travel
ing to rodeos. She was also a 4-H
volunteer.
On October II. 1968 She mar
ried Sylvester "Wissy" Smith at
Madras, Oregon.
She is survived by her husband
Sylvester "Wissy" Smith of Warm
Springs; Children Alfredine L.,
Ava Marie, and Glendon N. Smith
all of Warm Springs; Her Father
Patrick Curley of New Mexico;
Adopted Mother Caroline Tohet
of Warm Springs; Brothers Tho
mas O. Kalama, Mark Stevens,
Richard and Jimmy Tohet all of
Warm Springs; an Uncle Cy
Kalama of Warm Springs; Sisters
Mary Ann Stevens, Mary Tohet
both of Warm Springs. Smith was
preceded in death by her Mother
Bertha Mitchell in 1961.
Dressing ceremonies were held
Wednesday December 26. 1990 at
3:00 p.m. at the Bel-Air Chapel.
Overnight services followed at the
Agency Longhouse with Pierson
Mitchell and Prosanna Williams
officiatine. Burial was at the A
gency Cemetary Thursday, Decem
ber 27, 1990 at sunrise.
