Buff girls win league opener
After a up and down pre-scason
basketball schedule the Madras
White Buffalo Girls opened league
play with a win over the Nyssa Bull
dogs. The only bright spot for the
visiting Nyssa Bulldogs was that
they got the opening tip-off of the
game and led 1 7-0 after one quarter
of play. The entire team saw plenty
of action as the bench played most
of the final two quarters and the
starters sat on the sideline. At the
intermission, half time, the host
Buff girls held a 35-8 lead and at
the end of three quarters of play the
score was 49-1 3. Nyssa was able to
score 7 points in the final quarter
and the Bulls popped the nets for
15 points giving them a 66-20 vic
tory. Michclc Simmclink tipped all
scorers with 12 points, Becky Soliz
got 1 1 points all in the first quarter,
with three 3 point baskets and one
two pointer before she left the
game with twisted ankl. Card

King, Laura Sahme 5 from on
three pointer and two from the foul
line. Shirley Allen also contributed
5 points, Becky Dodson 4, Heather

II fouls to Madras 13, No one
fouled out or there were no tech
nicals. This week the Buff girls should
see some tough action as they
travel to Baker to face the Bulldogs .
there. Baker has several returnees
from last years squad and should
be pretty tough this year. The Buff
girls will have their work cut out
for them.
White Buffalo boys top Mac Hi
The Mac Hi Pioneers tried to
slow down the pace during the
game with the Madras White Buf
faloes and had things going pretty
well their way by controlling the
tempo of the game. After one quar
ter of play the Pioneers held on to a
one point lead 9-8. But in the
second quarter the Buffs managed
to get 12 points to 9 for the Pio
neers and the Buffs pulled ahead to
stay and led at half time 20-18.
During the third quarter the
Buffs managed to onlv Bet two
points but held the Mac Hi Pioneer
scoreless as the score was 22-18 at
the end of three periods. In the
final quarter the Buffs sort of
turned things around a little by
scoring 16 points to 8 for the host
Pioneers where the final score was
Madras 38, Mac Hi 26.

Moses had 12, Tony Holiday II,
