New Year's Powwow to be held
The first annual "New Year'i
Eve Powwow" is scheduled to be
held Monday, December 31 at the
Agency Longhousc.
Festivities will begin with dinner
at 5 p.m. Grand Entry will begin at
7 p.m. with The Boys and the Mit
chell Singers as host drum.
There will be a variety of Warm
Springs, Wasco and Paiute old fun
dances featured including the
Laughing Dance, Hobo Dance, the
Beech-La Ho, the Spanish, the
Yell-Click, the Round dance and
others.
The categories of dances will
include boys and girls ages 0-7
open (traditional, fancy and grass).
Boys and girls 8 to 12 years of age,
open dance. Young mens and
womens open dance ages 13-17;
mens and womens traditional 18
and over. Mens fancy and grass, 18
and over and womens fancy; and
jingle 18 and over.
There will then be a Sr. Citizens
honorarium and the honoring of
local royalty.
A clown dance will follow. At
midnight, a prayer service will occur
to bring in the new year. A snack
will follow. A special honor will be
given to people receiving Indian
names New Year's Day.
A mini-raffle is also scheduled
for the day to be held by the com
mittee who will be selling tickets
for 50 cents each or three for one
dollar. Items to be raffled include a
shell dress, clock, $25. designed pil
low, End of Trail buckle, mini vest,
sewins kit. Pictroi medium pizza.
$50, braid ties and two movie ren
tals from the Burger Inn.
The powwow is alcohol and drug
free and everyone is welcome to
attend. Committee member, Cas
sie Katchia, stated the powwow
will give people something fun to
do and celebrate the holiday with
out the use of alcohol and drugs.
Also, the youth of the community
will be able to learn the old, fun
dances that are being forgotten.
Pitt to receive PSU degree
Portland State University re
cently announced its degree candi
dates for Fall 1990. Candidates are
eligible to participate in one of two
commencement ceremonies, one in
June and one in August of 1991.
Among the candidates is Charlotte
A. Pitt from Warm Springs who
will be receiving a Bachelor of Arts
degree.

Works various hours, high school diploma
or GED required, good typing skills, be in
good health, be at least 1 8 years old and no
felony or misdemeanor convictions within
the last year prior to hire.
High school graduate, basic microcomputer
knowledge, records management, filing
and minimum three years experience.
Bachelors degree in accounting or a related
field. Must have a minimum of five years
experience in industry and or municipal
accounting and in managing all of the
major operational functions within an
accounting department. Experience in
operating microcomputer including Lotus
1-2-3 and WordPerfect.
Responsible to manage entire process legis
lation and regulation while at same time
coordinating information from the judicial
common law and administrative rules.
Will also be responsible for maintenance of
codification systems and tribal government .

wide systems.
Responsible for providing child care and
supervising daily activities of chilldren.
Primary duties include preparation of
meals, transportation for medical care and

Center policies. Must be available for
rotating shifts. Must be drug and alcohol
free. Current ODL is requied.
Provide full stubstance abuse treatment
services. Responsibilities include out
patient individual and group work, rigor
ous record management demands and
rotating crisis coverage. Job requires Mas
ters; will consider AD certification.
Bachelors degree in accounting or a related
field. Must have minimum of three to five
years of related experience in industry
and or public accounting.
Incumbent must be dependable and have
home phone where she can be reached.
"On-call" to fill in while permanent full
time secretary is out of town on business or
on vacation status. Incumbent will be
responsible for screening telephone calls
and public. Confidentiality must be main
tained of all material and information per

College degree; one to three years related
experience; knowledge of tribal laws, poli
cies, procedures; federal, state and tribal
