Buffaloes prepare for opening game
The Madras White Buffalo boys
basketball team is busy readying
for their opener which will be
December 7-8, 1990. This is their
home holiday tournament where
Henley, Hood River Valley and
Crook County will participate.
Returning for Madras this year
as a senior is Eric Peterson, who
was one of the leaders of last year's
squad. Eric is a good team leader
and does a good job all over the
court, rebounding, scoring and de
fensive play. He certainly will -see
plenty of action again this year.
Another returnee who also saw
plenty of action last year is junior
Smtt Moses, who can be a real
asset to the Buff team. Moses has
the ability to be a good rcboundcr
and has a good shot, so with these
two there should be plenty of excite
ment on the court.
Joining them is senior Tony H ol
iday who saw some varsity action
last year. This year he figures to
contribute more for the varsity
team. Ryan Boyle is showing good
promise and will see lots of playing
time. Others who are coming along
are Jeremy Symons. Mark Harris,
Ryan Crote and Jake Coochise.
There are others who have not
been selected but should do a bang
up job for the Buffs as the season
progresses.
The Buffs first action will be in
their own Holidav Tournament
which will be held December 7 and
8 in Madras. The anticipation is
high with the team and they are
looking for a good season, hope
fully something can come out of
this year's team.
Some of the top teams to watch
in the league this year are Nyssa,
who has three starters returning; of
course, Ontario is always tough;
Baker City has four returning play
ers and should not be counted out
for no means; and Vale, who drop
ped to 2-A, were going to be tough,
but they are now out of our league.
This should be an interesting
year for the Greater Oregon League,
where there will be plenty of action.
Springs Athletic Association vs
Desert inn; lanes j-u " "
Madras Auto Parts; lanes 7-8 4-H
Ranch vs Rogers Drug; lanes 9-10
McPheeters Turf vs 3N-Livestock
and on 1 1-12 Snuff-Butch Logging
vs Inter-Tribal Sports.
All this took place at Pelton
Lanes in Mdras where they have
Monte Carlo bowling every Friday
night starting at 9 p.m. Lots of fun
for the whole gang.
