Drive-In Hunting
It's obvious that hunting sea
son is open once again on the
REZ ...the the kills have been
pretty good. For one thing the
evidence is plain as there are a
lot of dead Bulls. Well I suppose
if you are one of those fearless
hunters always looking for ad
venture in the wilds, especially
in the comfort of a new 4 wheel
drive truck with all the luxuries
and plenty of lunch, a stereo
and maybe a beautiful chick at
your side the hunting trip could
be real interesting. Reports are,
not just dead Bulls, but also
plenty of Coors and Buds as
well. It's a rare season for Pepsi
or Coke, however once in a
nihil nnp miu mme nnotl
a nepsi or coke, which could have been a chaser...Burrrp!!
Once in a while the hunting trip is Rudely Interrupted as a buck
deer might get in the way...so everyone jumps out of the truck as it
they are going to kill him instead they cut loose with their trusty
30-06 rifles or whatever they are using and cut down all the plant
life around the Buck Deer. I imagine he (the buck deer) might
think "Man these dudes don't want me eating these plants, so I d
better hightail it out of here." And away he goes hoping to find a
nice quiet spot where he will not interrupt another hunting party.
Well now" ! There are always two sidts to everything and some
times things don't always work out the way they are intended. Is it
a sport or is it for a living? Each year there is a hunting season m the
-state where an individual can get a tg and go out hunting for deer.
" Some of these hunters could care less of getting a buck for a living.
They are out there trying to find a buck deer with the biggest rack
(antlers) in other words. Because how long would a 90 pound deer
Today the sport is like going to a drive up teller at the bank,
especially those who use their fancy new 4 wheel drive trucks. No
matter where a person might go there has been one of those 4 wheel
drive truck tracks that went through ahead of him. This really
ruins the sport for the hunters that like to hike out into the hills for
: the excercise while others find it more sporting to hunt afoot. But 1
: guess everyone has his reasons for doing what he does whether it be
: hunting or fishing or just out in the country for the day, not matter
: where you go you'll always run into a Dead Bull.
: "Ahh-Nah-Chi-Toon."

School is here once again and another summer rapidly coming
to a close. The kids will be settling down for another school year.
This has been a pretty busy summer for all the kids, working and
traveling and stuff. As always there is a lot of powwows, rodeos
and sports tournaments all over the country where kids can go.
Some even play softball with teams around here.
When school starts I believe students should not become
involved with activities other than what's offered at school. I
believe managers of teams should discourage kids from participat
ing in adult activities. After all, all these no count tournaments are
for the has-beens, wish-they-weres, or whatever.
It's more important to be in school doing things with other kids
and getting an education. A person cannot get enough education
in today's world in order to make a decent living.. "Ahh-Nah-Chi-Toon."

Because wc arc losing so many of
our loved ones, friends and rela
tives. I feci that I need to write this
letter to free myself of a burden
that I have carried for so long.
Since my sisters and I were grow
ing ud in Simnasho. This is to
anyone that feels any animosity
towards me or mine. Luke 6:35,38
says, "Be ye merciful. Judge not.
and ye shall not be judged; con
demn not. and ye shall not be con
demned; forgive and yc shall be
forgiven." I am asking forgiveness
from those I have hurt by saying
anything or doing (not doing)
anything.
At the same time I am forgiving
those who still feel this hostility to
me. I don't understand the reason,
but I'm putting it in God's hands.
He knows all. "For if ye forgive

Dear Fellow Citizen:
As elected members of your
schoolboard, we would like you to
know that we're listening. Two levy
proposals have been voted down.
For the third election in Septem
ber, the amount has been lowered.
The school finance system in
Oregon places too much reliance
on our propei ty taxes. Like eve
ryone, we are ready for a better
system.
We started planning this year's
budget last winter based on esti
mates of revenue and costs from
many sources. Having, just closed
our financial books on last year, we
know now that we are able to
increase our estimates on non-tax
income. This increase will be used
to lower the levy and is reflected in
the September ballot proposal In

To my Mother and Relatives:
I felt I needed to write and give
my apologies to my family, espe
cially to my dear Mom, Elvina.
I'm so very sorry for not going
through the name giving for my
two children, but I prayed about
this and really felt, it wasn't God's
will for me to go through an Indian
ceremony which I do not believe in.
I have nothing against the tradi
tion, it's just I never participated in
any way, in the past.
I know I had hurt my mom very
deeply, and I never meant to, so
"Mom, I'm very sorry."
I just felt I would've been going
against my faith and felt as though
I'd be serving two God's when
there's only one.
