Adeline Symentire Morrison
Adeline Morrison, age 90 years
died in Bend, Oregon March 1,
1990. Morrison was born December
25, 1899 to Peter and Eliza Slim
Jim Symentire in Hood River,
Oregon where she spent her early
years until she moved to Warm
Springs where she resided until her
death.
Morrison believed and lived the
life as the ancestors of the Colum
bia River did. She believed and
upheld the culture and traditional
values of her people such as their
natural resources of water, salmon,
roots, deer and huckleberries.
Morrison believed in the water
and fishing rights of her people, as
do her grandchildren and great
grandchildren who carry on her
beliefs and values the fishing and
water rights as fishermen fisher
women. H er grand fat her was Chief
Painush of the Wasco Tribe. She
was the eldest Wasco member and
the last 44 Wasco. Her heritage is
linked to many treaty signers.

grandsons Kenneth and Alfred
Goudy.
Dressing ceremonies were held
at sunset on March 3, 1990 at the
Agency Longhouse conducted by
Chief Nelson Wallulatum. Over
night services were held Saturday
and Sunday. Burial was Monday.
March 5, 1990 at sunrise at the
Agency Cemetery.
