It was through your efforts that your child(ren) has become an Out standing Citizen! Teachers have answers the Improved attendanceand achieve ment are two of our goals for the year. One depends and works with the other. Each month we want to recognize the parents and their children who have achieved perfect attendance for the month. Soon after the new year we will reecog nize in a special way students who have perfect attendance and who have been here on time everyday during December. We kftow it is with wonderful parent support that this takes place. Where can you go for one-stop, full-service assistance? See a teach er. Where can you go for a sympa thetic ear that listens to problems? See a teacher. Where can you go to get some information? See a teacher. Where can you go to find a friend? See a teacher. The days are gone when a teacher was only a dispenser of knowledge and a keeper of order and disci pline. Today's society has placed new responsibilities in the world of teachers. Being a teacher in the 1980s has become a complex and intensely demanding job. Even as some of the public asks for back-to-basic learning, other people are asking for parent eclasses, driving classes, values classes, disease pre ventio classes, drug and alcohol prevention classes. Still others say that teachers should prepare stu dents to be good workers. Others are sure that the teachers should produce scholars who yearn for higher education. The teachers' world is complex because everyone is right. Teachers try to answer all the demands. They try to offer what the peple need; and then, they wonder where to find the time. It is a good time to think about what we ask of today's teachers. District 509-J is full with teachers who accept the challenge and care a bout children. It is a good time to say "thank you" to our teachers. New ambulance purchased -I J , fSUJif I " pi: J -I .b.
