PAGE 4 December 1, 1989 Warm Springs, Oregon Spilyay Tymoo Editorial E Coosh EEWA: (The way it is) Letters to the Editor "Spifyay Speak" Lost boys found safe Apology extended for crime Drugs and alcohol. Can we ever overcome this problem in today's society. There still exists that neverending battle against the dependency of these chemi cals. Why does this continue to have a big influence over so many around here? We have a unique working program here trying to combat the situation but it still lingers on. With all the horrible things that have happened to some of our people in the past, like auto accidents, suicide and other chemical dependent caused situa tions, it seems like people would be aware of what comes from these things and try to encour age the younger ones to stay away from those habit forming substances. Alcohol and drugs are problems of denial (users refusing to admit they have a problem.) People who resort to those things must not have any goals in life and live from day-to-day in a world of their own and do not realize the hardships they put on the ones who care for them. There are a lot of children who experience hard times from situations like this caused by that person who couldn't care less of what he is doing to others just to satisfy himself. A lot of children are innocent of all these things and it's the innocent who do all the suffering at the end and by that time, it's "bye, George," and the case is closed. To the Kditor The families of Wolfman, Tracy Sam, Albert Charley, Cory St wycr, Jerome Lewis and Phil George would like to thank the following departments and people that came to their aid when they were lost overnight in the woods. The boys went out 5 a.m. Sun day and were back by noon Mon day. They got stuck on the Simna sho Butte area. We, the parents and grandpar ents never slept that night knowing the cold and not knowing what could have happened, but the expertise of these departments and people kept us in line and calmed us down. Without them we would have been lost in the woods. Thank "nu very much Keith Baker and , : - -; Happy Birthday, SislJ! .if : I -. .1 , ' .
