Editorial E Coosfa EEWA (The way it is) Letters to the Editor "Spityay Spealts" Teditor "Whew," now that the holidays are past wc can all settle back and get ready for the new year. There has been so much commo tion everywhere these past few weeks with the presidential elec tion, Christmas shopping, the New Year events and all, kept everyone on the go. With 1989, fresh underway, a new administration taking office, so let's hope for the best. The inauguration will take place in a few days and the show will get under way: What s in the script no one knows yet. Let s just hope there won t be any re-runs of the oldies, because some things that happened we could have done without last year. Let's face it, whoever gets in office, no matter at what level. everyone is never satisfied. There are always controversies in wha tever takes place. Sometimes people are not satisfied with things or people but when are replaced they sometimes regret what they have done. Everyone points toward political moves today, where everyone is trying to get a foothold, or their foot in the door, so to speak. This starts right from ground level and right to the top in any organization. And this is a very critical time of the year as the new administration readies to take office. There are things that are shaping up right now around here that could stir some atten tion. Our resources, both human and natural need close watch ing. The economy is so uncer tain at all times where it keeps people wondering what's next for us. In any situation some- ones toes are stepped on for someone to get what he wants. In the past there were several things that were against us, like the drought last summer, un employment which leads to the use of alcohol and drugs. As they say, "There are better times ahead," but that's not doing us any good at the present. To the community of Warm Springs The spiritual communities below wish to speak to you about life and living it. It is not the way of the Creator, our Lord, for us to be under the influence of booze, (beer, wine, hard stuff or mixed drinks); during the day or night, during the week or weekend. It is not the Creator's way for being Indian, White, or a human being. It is not the way of the Creator, our Lord, to eat, shoot, sniff, or smoke drugs that do nothing for the body, mind or spirit. It is not the Creator's way for being Indian, White, or a human being. It is not the way of the Creator, our Lord, for us to abuse drugs that are given to help the body and mind. It is not the Creator's way for being Indian, White, or a human being. It is not the way of the Creator, our Lord, to think so little of our selves by what others say to us that we would try to kill ourselves. It is not the Creator's way for being Indian, White, or a human being. It is not the way of the Creator, our Lord, to allow deep anger to rise in us to cause us to hit, burn, punch, or kick our children, wives, husbands, mothers, or fathers. It is not the Creator's way for being Indian, White, or a human being. It is not the way of the Creator, our Lord, to treat our wives, and husbands as things to be used. It is not the Creator's way, for being Indian, White, or a human being. IT IS THE LORD, OUR CREATOR'S way to believe in Him. It is the Creator's way for , being Indian, White, and a human being. IT IS THE LORD, OUR CREATOR'S way that we would love each other, respect each other, and give honor to those who deserve it. It is the Creator's way for being Indian, While, and a human being. IT IS THE LORD, OUR CREATOR'S way to know in our time of anger, pride, and pain that He is there to help us or even do for us what must be done to live. It is the Creator's way for being Indian, White, and a human being. There is a choice in the land. The many wonderful, powerful, and loving ways of our Lord, our Crea tor; or a choice of being the living dead, helping others to live in death, before death comes. And the stories of the reservation of a drunk on every street corner did not happen. Yes, people drank, like in other towns; yet we had no firey car crashes from which to pull bodies. Or the drunk tank with 100 men in it. My thanks to the Warm Springs Police who did a great job looking for drunk drivers. My thanks to Fire and Safety who had to wait for the worst, yet did not have to deal in blood. Finally, my thanks to everyone who made themselves the "sober person to drive. To my family, friends & relatives I'm just writing an article in regards to my mother, who is so dearly loved by all. I was home for a week and never realized just what health conditions my dear mom was suffering. As a "very concerned daughter," I am asking if my family would be more considerate towards our mom and go and spend a few minutes of your time and let her know she is loved. She needs so much love and support at this time, so if it's not asking too much, drop by my mom's home and see if she needs to go anywhere, or needs anything done around her home. She would love to se her own kids spend more time with her and her grandchildren, whom she hardly sees. I would love to see others hav ing fond memories of her also, as I do. I'd like to get one thing out in the open for I don't want to get anymore feedback or having anyone put a guilt trip on me about our moving away. I never ran away from my reponsibilities as a daugh ter. I'm only giving the others a chance to spend time with our mother. I have a responsibility to go out and be a witness for our Lord, Jesus Christ. There's so many lost souls out there who really need the Lord. I, Glove lost Lost:A Rawlings baseball glove was left at the Warm Sjprings Commuknity Center field approx imately August 12 of last year. A reward of $25.00 is being offered for its return. Contact Tedi at 553 1161, Ext. 205. myself have really grown "spiritu ally" since moving over here to Mt. Vernon. I'd love to be able to say we'd all meet once again but I'd by lying. You need to turn your life around and accept the Lord as your Personal Savior if you want eternal life. But again, back to my concerns for my mother. Would you, as family and relatives, please do Mom and I a favor and stop in and giver her a hug and a helping hand? I'd appreciate it very, very much. Let her know you care, while she is still with us. And one final statement, Please don't take advantage of her kind ness by going up to her home just when you need money. She gives a lot, but nothing comes back to her. Thank you ever so much for tak ing the time to read this article and hope we get a lot of good response back. I'm praying for a good report back after this!! "God bless each and everyone of you on the Rez" Susan J.
