Macy's participate in slo-pitch tourney 1 Donnie Bagley powers a single for Macy's. by Saphronia Coochl.se Macy's co-ed Softball team par ticipated in the Quieluete Days slo pitch tournament July 16 and 1 7 in l.apush. Washington. The team members included Donnie Bagley, Willie Bagley, Libby Chase, Saphronia Coochise, Missy David, Cy Jim. Andy Leo nard, Darryl Smith, Dawn Smith, Deanie Smith, Juliane Smith and June Smith. Macy's played their first game against Saquamish, Washington. They were defeated 4-5 in thirteen innings. Donnie Bagley made the number one inning a great start by hitting a two-run homerun. They then came up against the United States Coast Guard team, and were victorious 10-0 in six and a half innings. Donnie Bagley again hit a two-point homerun in the first inning. Macy's scored seven runs in the first inning to start the victory. Macy's came back Sunday morn ing to challenge Tulalup, Wash ington and defeated them IS to 4. A homerun was hit by Darryl Smith in the third inning and Willie Bagley also hit a homerun in the fifth inning. In the seventh inning Don nie Bagley hit a solo homerun. The team played against Saquamish once again and again were defeated 7 to 8 but in only seven innings this time. All seven points by Macy's were scored in the first inning to scare their opponents who were scoreless until the fourth inning. All-stars for Macy's team were awarded to Donnie Bagley and June Smith. Macy's was awarded fourth place in the tourney. Alumni football! An Alumni Football game is scheduled for August 20 at 7:30 p.m. Gear will be issued on that Saturday at I p.m. The format that the game will be played in is according to the dates of graduation. The odd numbered years will be combined as one team and the even numbered years will consist on another team. Preregistration will be on Monday, August 1 5, one half hour before the sessions begin. Sessions for sixth thru eighth grade students will be from 3:30-5:30 p.m. and ninth grade thru twelfth grade sesions will be from 6:30 8:30 p.m. Both sessions will be conducted at the high school. Football practice will begin with daily doubles on August 22 with morning practice from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and afternoon practice from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Mon day thru Friday of that week. Sat urday practice will run from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Freshmen practice will beginTues day, August 23 at 1 p.m. The remaining practices for freshmen will be determined at a later date. Ten practice sessions will be i. quired before participating in football game. The first FroshSoph football game is set for September 8 at Wahtonka. The first Varsity game is set for September 9 at Hood River. Babe Ruth all-star tournament A six-team, 15-year-old-boys baseball tournament was held at Vince Genna Stadium in Bend July 14 to 16. Jefferson County did not have a team but two individuals, Jake Coochise of Warm Springs and Justin Chester of Madras, were asked to play for Redmond's all star team. Other team members from Redmond were Jonathon Beech, Todd Dickerson, Jeremy McMullen, Don Ledbetter, Mike Dietz, Shawn Starr, Chris Davis, Jason Miller, Casey Snow, Jeremy Wrin-walder, Ted Thornstat and Todd Hewitt. The six teams par ticipating were David Douglas, Parkrose, two Bend teams, Prine ville, and Redmond-J.C. Redmond played Thursday against Bend (Red) " and lost 1 2-4. They then came back Friday and defeated Prineville 15--7. They then played Saturday and defeated Bend (Red) 12-7. So they played again that day against Parkrose and lost 12-9. The team was then eliminated from the tour nament. The champion of the tournament was the Parkrose team. by Saphronia Coochise July 23-24 the Bravettes held a co-ed softball tournament in order to raise money to travel to nationals in Tri-Cities Washington. The awards were as follows: third place was awarded to the Arrows of Warm Springs, second was Macy's, also of Warm Springs, and first place was given to the Yellow Jackets of Yakima. Best Glove was awarded to Fox Leonard and June Smith both of Macy's. Most Valuable Player was given to Pari Runion and Delan each from Yakima. The all stars were as follows: Willy Trimble and Reona Trimble received them from Jack and Jill team. Donny Winishut and Alii were Janell Smith and Rodney Adams and all stars for Yakima were Regina Hagritti and Anthony Garcia.
