I his study conies in re sponse to Pacific University's an nouncement that as of June .10, I98X. it will end its 15-ycar man agement of the f ield Station. According to Executive Direc tor Donald M. Kerr, a SI 6.000 grant was obtained from the Fred Meyer Charitable Trust to investi gate various sccnerios for continued operation of the I ield Station. " I he Museum, one of 25 institu tions represented in the Malheur I ield Station Consortium, is cur rently gathering data on the facility and its operations in order to pres ent a plan for the future of the Field Station to the Consortium." says Kerr. "It is possible that the Museum may consider management of the Field Station if the feasibility study results arc positive and if maior funding is available." said Kerr. At Evergreen State College in Olympia. Washington July 10-22. This will be an intense, two week program designed around Indian treaty curriculum, college testing and recruitment and health pro motion and disease prevention. Invited to attend will be 100 high school or GED students from the three state area of Oregon, Washing ton and Idaho. Two representa tives from each of the 38 federally recognized tribes and 24 urban and other tribes will be selected based on community involvement, lead ership potential, and grade in school (priority will be given to graduat ing seniors) Absolutely no drugs or alcohol will be allowed. She is the granddaughter of the late George and Loreen(Brunoe) Danzuka, Sr. and Warm Springs chief Nathan Heath. Her grandmother, Lillie Heath, lives in Warm Springs. Laurie has two brothers, Gerald, 28 and Orvie, who is 18. She also has four sisters, Doreen, 26; Kathy, 23; Becky. 21 and Luanne, 13. Laurie is of Warm Springs, Wasco and Paiute descent. Special activi ties during her high school years have been serving as secretary and council member of the Native American Student Union. She also holds the title of Miss Pi-Ume-Sha, 1987-88. Horseback ridingand tra veling to powwows are also special interest of Lauries as well as being with her friends. Cross country running and gym nastics are the sports in which she has participated, with gymnastics being her favorite. Business Law is one of her favorite classes with favorite teacher Larry Larson. Another favorite class is math analy sis with Jack Gallegher. Rod Ches ter is also another favorite teacher. She has received good citizenship award and has been on the honor roll. Looking back on the past 12 years of school, Laurie savs, "' was fun, but I should have taken school more seriously and gotten better grades than I did." About this being her last year in school, Laurie states, "I'm glad it's almost over, but I'll never forget my four years at MHS." Friends and teachers are what she will miss most about high school. Laurie has chosen business admi nistration or law as her career cho ice and Portland State University is her college choice. Laurie wishes "good luck to eve ryone" remaining at MHS. She advises students to "stay in school and do the best you possibly can." Clinton E. Switzler. who is 18-years-old. is the son of Maxine Switzler and the late Dclton Switzler. His grandfather is Linton Winishut, also of Warm Springs. He has three brothers, Victor, 33; Jay, 30; and Wendell, 23. He also has three sisters, Valerie, 28; Eydie, 25 and Lori, 16. Clint is of Warm Springs, Wasco and Yakima descent. He enjoys traveling with friends. Clint has participated in football and wrestling, with wrestling being his favorite. Clint has no favorite teachers or classes, however, "all the teachers have been great," he says. Clint has received numerous athle tic and top honor roll awards. His outlook of the past school years is that he's "enjoyed them all and feel that I've gotten all I can out of them." He's also glad that this is his last year in school, even though he will miss it all. He will "miss every thing of and about high school." His career choice is aeronautical space engineering with his college choice being Oregon Institution of Technology. "Enjoy high school," says Clin ton to all those remaining at MHS. Howlak Tichum Eugenia Wolf Court Notices A former resident of Warm Springs, Eugenia "Gena" Wolf of Pendleton, Oregon died May I, 1988 at the Good Shepard Com munity Hospital in Hermiston, Oregon. She was 56. Gena was born July 23, 1931 to Rufus and Anna (Andrews) Wolf in Thornhollow, Oregon. She had lived in Warm Springs for 2 1 years, leaving in 1975 to move back to Pendleton. She was an enrolled mem ber of the Umatilla Tribe and also a member of the George Saint Den nis Post 140 American Legion Auxil iary. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Anna Wewa January 18, 1979 and a son. Matt Wewa August 27, 1984. Surviving her are a daughter, Arlene Wewa of Warm Springs; two sons, Wilson Wewa, Jr. and Winston Wewa both of Warm Springs; two nephews, David Woll and Lonnie Wolf both of Pendleton. Oregon; two nieces, Marilyn Woll of Wellpinit, Washington and Vivian Wolf of" Pendleton and three grand children. Dressing ceremonies were held May 3, 1988 at the Mission Long house on the Umatilla reservation at 3 p.m. Rosary services were held at 7 p.m. at the Longhouse with overnight Washut services follow ing. Burial was May 4, 1988 at the Agency Cemetery on the Umatilla reservation.
