Children's Dental Health month to begin
The Warm Springs Indian Health
Service dental clinic is not making
any new appointments at this time
so that they can complete their
work on their current patients. If
you are in need of dental care, con
tact the clinic to have your name
put on the waitinglist. The clinic is
currently concentrating on opera
tive work, such as fillings and root
canals, rather than exams and emer
gencies. Emergencies will be seen every
day, except Wednesday, from 8 to
9 a.m. and from 1 to 2 p.m. It is
advised that you sign in early as the
clinic can only see two or three
patients during the one-hour time
periods. Emergencies are of prior
ity nature, such as relief of pain,
swelling, trauma and extractions.
Persons missing two appointments
will be issued a warning care. On
the third appointment missed, the
person's name will be put at the
back of the waiting list.
The dental clinic will be working
with diabetics and nursing home
residents. More information will
be made available at a later date.
February is National Children's
Dental Health month. Information
concerning childrens' dental care
will be presented to the public in
three categories: clinic, school- and
community-based.
In the community category, par
ents will be encouraged to visit the
dental staff. This will hopefully
lead to increased parental invol
vement in childrens' dental care.

Charles transferring to Lapwai
A farewell luncheon was held for
Stella Charles, BI A Social Services
worker here for the past two years.
BIA Superintendent Bernard
Topash, gave a little rundown on
Ms. Charles while she was in his
employ. She came here directly out
of graduate school and done her
duties well, he knew she wanted to
return to her home to work but
didn't think it would be this soon.
Ms. Charles, a native of Lapwai,
Idaho, said she was wanting to
return to her home country to
work. Finally a position came avail
able in the Branch of Health and
Stella accepted the position.
During her term here in Warm
Springs, she said it was very inter
esting and a good experience to see
how progressive things were here.
If she could have gotten her family
to move here she might have stayed
longer. Well, Lapwai, will gain
Warm Springs' loss and everyone
here wishes Stella the best of luck
in the future. Stella said she hopes
to drop by during the Pi-Ume-Sha
days to say Hi. The luncheon was

Return to grandparent's way
The old religions of the Indian
people were given to them by our
Creator named God, or sometimes
referred to by an Indian name,
which changes from tribe to tribe.
Our creator instructed them on
how to drive the dark tormentors
out of our homes and lives, but if
you neglect to keep him out, he will
return to the same place he was
before.
All of us need exact instructions
on how to help one another with
every kind of problem, and you
must understand that the spirit of
darkness is our major problem.
"He" is killing our young people,
not you and I, and not the lack of

Hints given for warmth
The combination of freezing tempe

A suggestion to feel warmer and
better is to add moisture to air
indoors where we spend alot of
time. This can be accomplished as
easily as putting a tea pot of water
on the stove each day to boil off or
automatically by adding a humidi
fier that will maintain a constant
moisture level. If neither of these
ideas suit your fancy, take heart,
it's just over fifty days until spring.
