According to Fire Chief Jerry Huff, all of the Fire and Safety per sonnel have been trained and are familarized with the truck and its equipment. Huff added that the new truck is designed to give more thorough and adequate structural protection. Assistant Fire Chief Dean Seyler stated the Fire and Safety depart ment is in need of able-bodied volunteers in the Simnasho area. Howlak Tichum Thurman Henry Thurman Henry, 46, resident of Warm Springs died November 26, 1987 at the Mt. View Hospital emergency room. He was a member of the Warm Springs Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs. Henry was born May 30, 1 94 1 to Peter and Ethel (Hellon) Henry in Simnasho, Oregon. He lived in the Warm Springs area most of his life. He attended schools in Simnasho, Warm Springs and Madras. He also attended Anadarko Indian School in Anadarko, Oklahoma where he majored in business admi nistration. He had worked at the mill, ranching, gill netting on the Columbia River and had trained race horses. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Warm Springs Shaker Church. Surviving him are two daugh Lillian (Kalama) Tulee Enrolled member of the Confed erated Tribes of Warm Springs and resident of Toppenish, Washing ton, Lillian (Kalama) Tulee, 61, died in Yakima, Washington Novem ber 27, 1987. Lillian was born to Oliver and Katie (Henry) Kalama at Warm Springs July 8, 1 926. She spent her childhood years in Warm Springs. On December 15, 1942 she married Clifford B. Tulee at Warm Springs. The couple made their home in Washington. She was a member of the 1910 Shaker Church of White Swan, Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sons, one daughter and four brothers. Surviving her are her husband, Clifford Tulee, Sr.; three daughters, Patricia Tulee Delton Jay Switzler A lifelong resident of Warm Springs and enrolled member of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs, Delton Jay Switzler, 58, died December 1, 1987 at Mt. View Nursing Home. He had been ill for a long period of time. He was born September 8, 1929 at Warm Springs to Jasper and Ruby (Smith, Coon) Switzler. He was a member of the U.S. Army during the Korean War era. He married Maxine Winishut on Sep tember 3, 1954. During his lifetime he had worked as a carpenter, timber faller, timber coniractor and rancher. He was a member of the tribal timber committee. During his younger years he had been a member of the Warm Springs Calf Roping Club. He is preceded in death by his Darin Wayne Lawver Darin Wayne Lawver, 27, of Portland. Oregon was killed in a car accident just south of Albany, Oregon on 1-5 November 27. 1987. Lawver was born January I, I960 in Portland to Ben and San dra (Meachem) Lawver. He grew up in the Portland area. After high school he went to work as an assistant coach at Chemawa Indian School in Salem. Many people in the Warm Springs area became acquainted with him during cele brations as he was a dealer and trader of Indian jewelery. Surviving him are his parents Ben Lawver of Salem. Oregon; his mother Sandra Law ver of Portland; a brother. Dressing ceremonies were held at the Merritt Funeral Home in Wapato, Washington on November 28 with overnight ceremonies held at the family home in Toppenish. Services were held at the 1910 Indian Shaker Church in White Swan on November 29. The body was then taken to the 1910 Indian Shaker Church in Warm Springs for services held November 30 with the burial following at the Kalama Cemetery in Warm Springs. father Jasper; his mother Ruby Coon; and two brothers, Wilbur Switzlerand Emil Switzler. Surviv ing him are his wife Maxine Switzler; four daughters, Valerie Aguilar, Eydie Switzler, Lori Switzler and Tina Aguilar; four sons, Victor, J.D.. Wendell and Clinton Switzler; five sisters. Edith Danzuka, Evan geline Trimble, BeuIahCalica. Leota Saunders and Susie Coronado; and 1 1 grandchildren. The Warm Springs Veteran of Foreign Wars held a casket draping ceremony.
