Daniel O'Brien Special achievement
Forestry personnel have been
able to continue to get around
quite well in the field due to the
mild winter. They have been work
ing, cruising, and performing layout
work on 1987-89 logging units and
timber sales.
Besides working in the field we
have been preparing forest officers
and other reports, performing stu
' j dies such as Watershed to answer
jjA Tribal Council concerns on future
. direction for Warm Springs Forest
Products Industries, attendingtrain-
ing and workshops and of course,
movine out of our offices into tem-
j porary trailers adjacent to Shitike
Creek, ine main roresi uuicc;
where permits are issued, and Bob
Harned, Forest Manager, are located,
is the trailer closest to the road
Our new permanent federal emplo
yees, are David Harding, James
Cobu"n, Catherine Vigil, Andy
James and Brock Long, all forestry
technicians and Tom Branson, fores
ter, are being utilized and trained
within their assigned units and are
proving to be good additions to
ourstaff. Also, Roberta Steelejoined
clerical staff on February 2, 1987.
We are sorry to see Ralph Goode,
Darryl Kruzen and Jim Campbell
leaving. Ralph is taking the fire
management officer position at
Flathead, Darryl is taking a fore
ster position at Umatilla and Jim is
transferring to Olympic Pennisula.
Both Ralph and J im are going"home."
These transfers are all laterals and
do not involve promotions.
Dennis Martinez has moved to
Sale Administration after working
ten years in the pre-commercial
thinning program in the develop
ment section.
