Adult Basic Fducation is offered
throughout the College's district. It
serves approximately KMX) students
who are improving basic skills of
reading, writing and math, com
pletingan adult high school diploma,
preparing for the GEI) test of high
school equilivancy or learning
English as a second language.
Not only do the students gain the
satisfaction of having reached a
personal goal of enhanced skills or
ol completing a high school diploma,
each student has new life options
available. A number of students
have selected full-time or part-time
attendance in credit classes to earn
a two-year college degree. The stu
dents from the ABE program have
been successful in earning their
degrees, some with the honors of
scholarships and distinguished stu
dent awards.
The classes are offered in each
community during the day as well
as in the evening. 1 he highly skilled,
enthusiastic teacher, Nancy Jolstcad,
develops an individual study plan
to meet the needs of each student.
