The year is over now, and it's time once again to look back and
recollect the year's events.
(1) In late December, 1985. Lana Shike was crowned the
thirteenth Miss Warm Springs. She traveled throughout the
northwest and the nation serving as representative and ambassador
for the Confederated Tribes.
(2) In all its splendor and pristine beauty, much of the reservation
was blanketed with a heavy cover of snow for most of the winter
last year. Record snow fall closed roads, schools and businesses.
(3) Warm Springs' own FM radio station, KWSI, hit the airwaves,
proving to be a great hit throughout central Oregon.
(4) The annual endurance run had competitors and their mounts
racing helter skelter over rough terrain. Shane Olney was victorious
in the men's division while Snuffy Herrera finished first in the
women's division.
(5) Stick games are a favorite pasttime at Pi-Ume-Sha. The game
area was brim-full with competitors as well as spectators.
(6) The Madras High School varsity basketball team fared well in 3
the Greater Oregon League division, making -itito the state
playoffs, where they were defeated by Tillamook and LaSalle.
