The tournament games were all
close ones as on Friday night the
Hood River Valley Eagles topped
the Cowboys 55-53, and in the
night cap the Buffs came from
behind to nip the Columbia Bruins
of White Salmon 60-61, to gain a
spot for the finals. 1
In the final game of the tourney
the Hood River Valley team jumped
out to a 12-10 lead at the end of the
first quarter, but in the second
quarter they were able to get just
one point from the foul line and thle
Buffs were able to collect ten points
to jump out into the lead 20-13 at
half time. The Hood River team
were not to be denied as they
fought back right to the final buzzer
at which time they were leading by
four with just three minutes to
play.
Leading the scoring for the Buf
faloes was Todd McGuire who
scored 19, Williams 10, Cordill 8,
Nordmark7, Whipple 2, Beamer2,
Stacona 1. The top scorer for the
Hood River team was Nay 13, Hart
10, McGonical 8, Weakly 3, Lewis
2, Shaull 2, Stassen 2.
In the game with White Salmon
the Buffs were in for some rumble
as the Bruins were here to play ball.
Again it was the hot hand of Todd
McGuire who kept the Buffs in the
game as he poured in a total of 27
points for the night. He just about
done everything there was in the
game including fouling at times.
McGuire was called for three quick
fouls and he was pulled out of the
game and everything just coasted
along with no big plays and a lot of
turnovers. The game was a good
one for those who have good hearts.
Nordmark put the game out of
reach by sinking his one for one at
the foul line. Following McGuire
in scoring for the Buffs was Ron
Blincoe 8, Williams 8, Stacona 6,
Nordmark 6, Whipple 3 and Wiles
2.
The Buffs came out the winners
of their invitational basketball tour
nament with Hood River second
White Salmon and Crook County.
At press time the Buffs have gone
to Wahtonka to play another non
league came on Tuesday night and
on the 19 and 20, they will travel to
enter the Gladstone basketball tour
nament in the Tri-Valley League.
This should be a good test for the
Buffs before conference play beg
ins in the near future.
Teen team
The Warm Springs Teen boys
under the coaching of Ronnie Sup
pah, traveled to Nisqually, Washing
ton, to play in a 14 year old and
under basketball tournament.
According to coach Suppah the
boys played a total of five games
and won four and lost one he says.
They also had two All-Stars and
the Mr. Hustle award. The all star
recipients were Andy Stacona and
Kahseuss Jackson. Andy also won
the Mr. Hustle award.
Pendleton
A teen basketball tournament
was held here in the Community
Center on December 6, 7, 1986,
under the direction of Ron Suppah.
Pendleton out classed all the
teams by winning the final game by
a wide margin over the Warm
Springs Renegades, the final score
for that game was 66-33. The scor
ing was done by Shane Rivera who
scored a total 27 points to lead
them past the Renegades for the

for the losers was Andy Stacona
with 8, followed by Reynolds Allen
with 5, and Kyle King, Maurice
Smith, Donnell Frank and Zee
Smith all scored 4 while Kanim
Smith and Cory Smith added two
apiece.
The tall lanky team from Pen-
Hleton was a little too much for the
horter Renegades and the Pen-
" lleton team came through with an
f unblemished record to win J.tle.
The Renegades had to come through
playing the Vols to see who went
up for the championship game with
Pendleton. The Renegades slipped
past the Vols by the score of 66-54.
In that game Donnel Frank scored
21 points to lead the Renegades in
a close game all throughout up
until the last minute when the
Renegades were able to pull out to
a comfortable lead and hold on to
win. Others scoring for the Rene
gades were Reynolds Allen 13, Mau
rice, Smith 14, Andy Stacona 9,
David. Muniz 4, Zeemah Smith,

all scorers for that game, others
scoring for the Vol's, Ron Suppah,
Jr., 9, Kurt Jim 9, Carlos Mitchell
6 and George Ike and Tony Fuentes
2 each. All the teams in the tourney
