Men's National Basketball tour nament in Billings, Montana on April 15-19, 1986. It was evident early in the game that this tournament would be competitive and tough. This is a tournament of the top 32 teams of the United States and Canada, with the top eight teams receiving recognition throughout Indian competition. Next year the tournament will be held in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The Oregon Travelers were unable to use Jerome Davis, James Scott, and Harold Pennington, due to the fact that they had played with the Warm Springs Magpies, who had made it to the nationals, and state rulings state they have to stay with their original team. Even though the Magpies and Travelers were short on the bench, ' they did a highly respectable job, there were many top teams who didn't place in the eight final places. The Oregon Travelers, Rocky Boy Montana, Cluny Canada, and Crow Hawks, Montana did a superior job and gained much , respect from the rest of the teams. For the Oregon Travelers and Four other novice teams, the brackets played in and the teams played were very tough. This was the third national tourna ment Tony Suppah played in and he found this to be one of the better tournaments to be in, the facilities were good, the N.I.A.A., directors and tourna ment committee handled every thing well. The fourth place jackets were very nice and deserve to be mentioned, they were great. The tournament facilities were centrally located and made every thing easier to cope with. The referees did their jobs to the best of their abilities, although there were complaints as there always w ill be in any competitions. Our roster consisted of Ron Jones. Buck Jones, Vic Sohappy, Valley at various times during the day. Camper parking at the grounds will be $3 for the weekend. Parking for cars will be SI a day. We were still leading Rocky Boy, Montana for three and one half quarters until team fouls caused us to go down in defeat at 120 to 106, giving Rocky Boy, Montana third place and the Simnasho Oregon Travekers fifth place in the national tournament. We are hoping to do better next year in Oklahoma City, Okla homa, we'd be very happy to see more support for sponsorship to enable us to participate. We felt that we had good representation in the tourna ment, the competition was tough and we as a team would very much like to thank all the people who supported and sponsored us to Billings, Montana. We'd also like to say "Thanks a lot" to Satch Miller for assisting us out in Billings. Mens tournament results Champions North Dakota Warriors (76) Runner l p Crow Nation Hawks, Mt.
