Use of Copenhagen questionable

E arly this sum hier J* read a
tragic account of five young
m en w ho had planned a w eek
end of rafting on a W estern
M o n tan a river. T he news article
summarized each individuals back
g round b u t for some reason
only o ne of the profiles stands
o ut in my m ind. It is th a t o f a
young cow boy I ’ll call Freckles.
Freckles, like his fo u r com p an
ions, w as considered a survival
ist by those w ho knew them ,
each had been an outstanding
athlete in high school. M ost, if
not all, w ould have survived to
tell o f th eir experience given
any o th er kind of situation,
their friends feel, but as it turned
out all five drow ned inside a
van. T heir van had gone into, a
river w here the raft race they,
were to have attended was held
the follow ing day.
T he details of this, tragedy
now ârè less im p o rtan t th a n the
profile and im age which F reck
les projected. He was described
by his '¡young, now -widowed,
com m on-law wife as being a
rugged o ù tdoorsm an w ho was
fam iliar w ith rivers and canoes.
He was a good father to their
eleven-m onth old daughter who

present faded circle on the back
pocket of the W ranglers he wore.

and a ‘slobbering all aro u n d the
house. . .” He finishes by p ro
claim ing ‘‘C ope” as a Cure-all
for warts, coughs, freckles, runny
nose and o ther com m on p ro
blems.
