Making the jump
The high school basketball season is underway with pre-league play until early this season, with eight of those games being played on the home court. League
January. The varsity and junior varsity teams will be playing a total of 14 games . play begins January 3 with Madras playing Mt. View.
Holiday bowling tournament to send pins falling
The eighth annual Warm
Springs H oliday Bowling
Tournament will be held
December 30,31 and January 1
at Pelton Lanes in Madras.
People wishing to enter can do
so during the tournament.
Entries will be allowed until
squad starting times on each
event.
The elgibility to enter is that
a person must be !4th or more
Indian, a tribal or BIA
employee at Warm Springs, a
member of a W arm Springs
bowling league or a spouse to
any of the above.
Teams will consist of four
members with a division for
men and a division for women.

There will be two divisions for
men’s doubles: division I ,
handicap of 60 pins and under
combined; and division II,
handicap of 61 pins and over
combined. There is one doubles
division for women. Bowlers
entered in doubles can also
enter singles. Mixed doubles
and all events divisions will be
offered for men and women
bowlers. A Holiday Champ
Roll-Off will be featured for
entrants who have bowled in
team, doubles and singles plus
paid the $3 entry fee.
Bowlers are allowed to enter
each even twice except all
events and the Roll-Off. Each
bowler will pay an entry fee of
$10 per event with the
exception for all-event ($2) and
the R oll-O ff ($3). When
bowlers compete more than
once in any event, their first line
scores and series in that event
will count towards all-events
standing, Roll-Off placing and
the Pendleton blanket awards.
Averages from ABC/ WIBC
leagues only will be used for
handicap, handicap will be
based on 90% of 200. The Roll-
O ff h a n d i c a p w ill be
determined on scratch basis.
Handicap for events other than
Roll-Off will be based on
highest ABC/ WIBC sanction
ed average of 21 games,
minimum from a pervious
season. Current average can be
used if a bowler has no average
from pervious season, using the
highest average of 21 or more
games as of December 29,1983.
All other bowlers will bowl
scratch. Responsibility to
verify accurate average is the
bowler’s.
All awards will be mailed or
delivered after the average is
verified by the tournament
director. One place will be paid
for each 10 entries in team,
doubles, singles and mixed
doubles. One place paid for
each 12 entries in all-events.
Prize money ill be paid out
100%.
Squad times for teams will be
Friday, at 8 p.m. and Saturday
at 10 a.m.; for singles and
doubles, Saturday at 12:30
p.m. and 4 p.m.; mixed
doubles, Sunday at 10 a.m. and
2 p.m. and the Holiday Roll-
Off will be Sunday at 12:30
p.m.
