Court News
Thompson sentenced Jan. 8
Curtis Lee Thompson, 19,
was sentenced January 18 in
Madras Circuit Court to 180
days in jail and five years’
p r o b a tio n fo r n e g lig e n t
homicide in the death of Larry
S. Blasingameon July 26,1981.
The ch arg e, to w hich
Thompson pleaded no contest
on Dec. 7, 1981, stemmed from
an incident in which the car
driven by Thompson apparent­
ly went out of control, sailed
over an embankment at the
Deschutes Trailer Court, and
crashed into the trailer where
Blasingame was sleeping.
Blasingame, 33, died of
injuries a short time after he
was transported to Mt. View
Hospital in Madras.
The driver and several
passengers abandoned the
vehicle after the accident^ but
returned to the scene about an
h our later, according to
Jefferson County Sheriff’s
Department reports.
State probation officer

Anyone ' residing in Warm
Springs who is in State
probation for a felony of any
sort must meet with state
probation officer Tim Allison,
in person during the month of
February.
At this meeting, you will be
informed about the new rules
of probation and how they
apply to you. Under these new
rules, you can appeal a State
Probation Officer’s decision on
how these rules apply to you, if
you disagree.
To make it easier for
everyone to meet with him. Mr.
Allison will be at the Warm
Springs P ro b atio n Office
(located in the old girl’s dorm)
Monday thru Friday from
1:00-4:00 p.m., during the
month of February. Please
come in as soon as possible. If
you cannot meet during these
hours, please call Tim at 475-

Sweetheart Dance
Dance the night away with

Sweetheart Dance scheduled
for February 14, Valentine’s
Day at Kah-Nee-Ta Lodge.
The dance begins at 9:00
p.m. and lasts until 1:00 a.m.
Admission is $4.00 per couple
and $2,50 per single person.
Only those 21 and older will be
admitted-
February 14 falls on a
Sunday with the following day
being a tribal holiday so there
need not be concern about
getting home early that night.
All proceeds from the dance
will be d o n a te d to the
Simnasho 4-H “ Discovery”

Drug Awareness
The third part of a series of
sessions on drug awareness is
scheduled to be presented
February 4 at Madras Junior
High School. This session will
Ic o n c e n tr a te on d ru g
curriculum currently being
used in the schools. Evaluation
of the curriculum by those
attending the workshop is
encouraged.
The two sessions held
previously dealt with drug
awareness and resources for
help with drug problems. Every
session is different and all are
encouraged to attend any of the
sessions.
The fourth session*scheduled
for February 11 will discuss
drugs is general. Pharmacist
Roger Tathwell will speak.
The drug awareness sessions
begin at 7:00 p.m. and last until
8:30 p.m.
Secretaries raising funds for retreat
The Administrative Service
Center secretaries are holding
various fund raising events to
raise money for a secretarial
retreat in May.
There will be a chili feed
Thursday February 11 at 6 p.m.
at the Agency Longhouse.
Tickets can be purchased for
$2.50 each from any of the
secretaries in steno pool. There
will also be a sack lunch sale on
Friday February 26.
The secretaries are also
selling raffles tickets for
numerous items. Tickets are
three for $1.00. Items to be
raffled include a cut bead
buckle, a beaded cap, bone
bead necklace, choker and two
sets of beaded barrettes. The
raffle will be held February 11
during the chili feed.
As in past years, the annual
endurance race held in April
during the Root Feast Rodeo
will be sponsored by the steno
pool. The secretaries have also
scheduled a run April 17 to be
run on the same course as the
S im n ash o M in i-M a ra th o n
“fun run.”

February 2 from 7:00 p.m. to
