Marathon.
The course for the run
remains the Same with runs
for those wanting a short
distance as well as for those
wishing to make a long
run.
Novice runners will eryoy the
three mile run or the 6 mile run
while experienced runners will
find a challenge in the up and
down terrain of the 14.5 mile
run beginning at Simnasho. All
runs conclude at Kah-Nee-Ta
Village.
Last year 225 runners
competed for trophies. Not
everyone could come in first
but the sense of satisfaction for
each runner completing the
course was invaluable.

upcoming 4th Annual Mini-
Marathon will be available
soon.
Rescheduled
Patt Memorial Roping
A memorial team roping
scheduled for January 9 has
been postponed due to bad
w eath er c o n d itio n s u n til
February 6. The roping will be
held at the Jefferson County
Fairgrounds at 11:00 a.m. in
Madras, Oregon. It is being
sponsored by roping promoter
Bill R. Walker of Madras.
Walker will donate all the cattle
money to Byron Patt’s family.
Silver buckles will be given
each roping. A high money
winner will be given a buckle
donated by the Warm Springs
Tribal Council.
People interested in giving

For the third year in a row
the Ft. Peck team of Poplar*
M ontana won the annual
W arm Springs A ll-Indian
Holiday Basketball tourna­
ment. In winning the 23rd
annual event, the Ft. Peck team
gave the tourney’s traveling
trophy a permanent home.
It was the second year Ft.
Peck met Pryor, Montana in a
championship game. The Ft.
Peck team led from the start of
the game and won with a final
score of Ft. Peck 118 and Pryor
88.
Taholah, Washington and
Phoenix, Arizona teams vied
for third and fourth place with
the outcome of the game,
Taholah 132 and Phoenix 111.
Fifth place was won by
Sprague River, Oregon (104)
over Wapato, Wash. (101).
