Mrs. George W. Dewey, Jr. was elected president for the new term. Others chosen are Mrs. James R. Gray, first vice president; Mrs. Howard Price, second vice presi dent; Mrs. Robert Gordon record ing secretary; Mrs. Elmer Wine gar, corresponding secretary; Mrs. Kenneth Limboeker, financial sec retary; Mrs. Robert Moore, treas urer; Mrs. Orville Kannier, Jr., parliamentarian: Mrs. John rCrick sen, publicity; Mrs. Marvin Simp son and Mrs. Jack Tilton, Direc tors. ' Installation of the new officers will be conducted at a banquet at Hcld's Restaurant on May 27 at 1 p.m. . .The club will sponsor a queen candidate for the ' Willamette River Days Festival, selection of the girl to be made later. Mem bers will participate in the clean up day program at Bush's Pas ture Park on Saturday, May 18. Decision to accept members in the National Mental Health Association was made at the meeting and the club will aid in the association's projects In this area. During the program Mrs. How ard Houck showed colored slides on "Do It Yourself with Fabrics." Alumnae Meet Alpha Phi alumnae met for a octal evening for their final ses sion until the fall season at the home of Mrs. Sydney H. Kromer Monday night. After a brief business meeting, the evening was spent in playing cards. Attending were Mrs. Vcrl L. Hol den, Mrs. Lawrence C. Merriam, Jr., Mrs. Chester Loo, Mrs. Rich ard Scandling. Mrs. Bruce F. Club Sets Meeting For Thursday Night Chemcketa Toastmislrcss Club will meet at the home of Mrs. L. C. Tennis at 755 Ferry Street on Thursday evening, May 16th, for a 7 o'clock nessert. Mrs. J. A. Johnston and Mrs. Alice LaSoine Squire will be the speakers and Mrs. A. B. Thomas will serve as tnaslmistrcss. A report will be given on the Regional Speech Contest In Eu gene, at which Mrs. E. W. Hill slrom was a second place winner. She previously won the speech contests at the club, area, council and Inlcr-council levels. Winner of the regional contest was Mrs. Jean Patlison of the Vancouver, B.C. club, who spoke on "God's Country." She will com pete at the I.T.C. speech contest in June for national winner. Mrs. Tennis will give the report of the recent regional meeting, and Mrs. Hillslrom, club parliamentar ian, will conduct a parliamentary drill during the evening. H'Jnglchart of Salem and John F. Weisscr, Sr., of Bend. The father is on a two-year tour of duty with the Army, stationed at Fort Riley, Kan., with the courts and boards section. He received his law degree from Willamette University in 1M5. Mrs. Weisscr was graduated from Willamette In 105.1. 'Wedding in West Salem Church At a simple service solemnized Saturday afternoon in the West Sa lem Methodist Church, Miss Floy Modcen Christy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Christy of Coos Bay, was married to Arnold N, Slack, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. N. Slack of Salem. The wedding was the first one in many years at the church. The Rev. Oscar A. Olsen, pastor of the church, read the candlelight service at 1 o'clock. Only members of the immediate families and a few close friends attended. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a green suit with beige hat and accessories, and a corsage of white blooms. Miss Peggy Christy attended her sister and Ed Rich of Coos Bay was best man. A reception in the Fireplace room followed the service. The couple will be at home at 2219 Ohio Street. North Bend.
