Molalla PTA to
Seat New Staff
MOLALLA (Special) This
month's Molalla PTA meeting will
be an evening session slated for
Monday, when new officers for the
coming school year will be in
stalled. Mrs. Elmer Dunton was
re-elected president; Mrs. Gerald
Dunton, vice-president: Mrs. Ray
Kalberg, secretary; Mrs. Roy Lay,
treasurer.
T. L. McBride. school principal,
will speak on the idea of Union
Mills school consolidating with Mo
lalla consolidated grade school dis
trict. A petition for consolidation
now is being circulated. A musical
group from the high school will
sing. The first grade room
mothers will serve refreshments
for this last meeting of the 1956-57
school year.
Silverton Folk 111
SILVERTON (Spcial) Mrs.
Charlie Johnson, who has been
under treatment at the local hos
pital for a fortnight, was reported
by members of her family, Tues
day, as making satisfactory re
covery and will soon be able to re
turn to her home near Silverton.
Surgery patients at the hospital
are Mrs. George Christcnson, and
Mrs. Albert Canoy. Both were re
ported as improving normally.
FRU1TLAND CLUB FLECTS
FRUITLAND (Special) Albert
Apperson was elected president of
the Fruitland Parent - Teachers
Club at the April meeting. Mrs,
Merle Hadley was elected vice-
president: Mrs. Willis Fritz, secre.
tary: and Mrs. Larry Wagner,
treasurer.
GOP Women Meet
WOODBURN (Special) The Re
publican Women of Woodburn met
recently at the country home of
Mrs. Henry Miller. Mrs. Kilian W.
Smith, vice - president, presided.
This was the final meeting of the
summer. Mrs. Miller served re
freshments, assisted by Mrs. Clar
ence Ahrens.
3rd Generation
To Join Ranks of
Stayton Alumnae
STAYTON (Special) Believed
to be the first third generation
member of a family to become a
member of the Associated Alumni
of Stayton Union High School will
be Tom Crabtree, when he be
comes a member at the annual
homecoming next Saturday.
Tom will graduate with the class
of 1957. His father, Dale Crabtree,
was graduated with the class of
1934, and his mother, Mrs. Linore
Inglis Crabtree with the class of
1936. Tom's grandfather, Floyd
Crabtree of Salem! started it all
when he graduated from Stayton
High School in 1924.

day evening's meeting of Molalla
Recreation Council, Harry L. Gib
boney, national inspector of the
VFW, presented the Council a Vet
erans of Foreign Wars community
service award. It was presented
"evidence of sincere aoDrecia-
tion of its outstanding community
service, support and achievement."
The certificate was awarded bv
Molalla VFW Post No. 3973 of
which Gibboney is junior' past
commander. With 20 present at
the meeting in the city hall, the
award was received by Dr. Roy
C. Heckard, as president of Mo
lalla Recreation Council.

Molalla Recreation Council, to
choose a name for the proposed
park-recreation district.
The three top winners will re
ceive free passes to the swim pool,
when completed. First place win
ner will receive a year s free
pass; .second place, six months;
third place, a three month's pass.
In case of a tie, the one bearing
the earliest post mark will win,
