Board of Higher Education indi
cated yesterday it could not sec
its way clear at present to pledg
ing some $65,000 towards activat
ing channel 10 here for a pro
posed educational television sta
tion.
Chancellor John R. Richard:
said the higher education budge
was closed for the next biennium

money and hand it over to an
other agency for spending.

nity Television, Inc.
The board, meeting in commit
tee, authorized award of contracts
for 8 tower and station to activate
channel 7 in Corvallis. conditional
on approval of the FCC. for edu
cational TV. A grant of $150,000
is expected from the Ford Foun
dation.
The board voted to oppose a
House bill which would legislate
an expanded curriculum for Port
land State College. The board said
the state should not start legislat
ing curricula and that it has a
definite plan for development of
Portland State.
