Dr. Earle Matteson will close
the "Eipht Great Days" program
al the West Salem Baptist church
at the 7:30 Sunday night service.
The subject for his last message
will be, "Purposefully Blind."
On Saturday night at 7:30 a re
quest musical will be presented.
Mr. Matteson will sing favorite
hymns and spirituals. Mr. and
Mrs. Fadel and Mrs. Ben Owen
will join him in musical numbers
on organ, vibra harp, cornet and
violin.

Mission Prelude
Set by Lutheran
A prelude to the All-Oregon
Lutheran Evangelism Mission will
be held Sunday at the 11 a.m.
service in St. Mark s Lutheran
church when more than 100 lay
men will be formally commis
sioned by the pastor, The Rev.
lohn L. Cauble, to go out into the
homes of Lutheran members and
solicit their continued prayers,
their attendance al the Mission
Week services, and a commitment
to invite the unchurched among
their acquaintances to attend the
special services.
The St. Mark Lutheran church
will join more than a hundred
other Lutheran churches in the
state in holding Mission Week
services Feb. 24 through March 1.
The guest missioner for the St.
Mark's congregation will be the
Rev. Robert W. Stackel, D.D.,
director of the Evangelism Mis
sion for the United Lutheran
church, and whose headquarters is
the Lutheran' Church House, New
York, N.Y.

and of Concordia Seminary, St.
Louis, Mo. He was ordained to the
Lutheran ministry in September.
1948, and pastor of First Lutheran
since September, 1950.
This Sunday the lay visitors will
be commissioned ' during the
church services. Following a
host dinner, they will make their
all member visitation.

compute the population figure: a birth
every 8 seconds; a death every 21 seconds)

Coroner's chief investigator Harry F.
Glos, who was filed from his job today by
Coroner Waller J. McCarren after a dispute
regarding the Crimes case, uses a calendar
as he discusses his theories during a press
conference. Glos stated the sisters had
beaten and at least one had been
molested sexually evidence which the
police wanted withheld from the criminal.
Investigation into the mysterious death of
Barbara Grimes and her sister, Patricia, has
created a furor in Chicago since Jan. 22
