Salem, Oregon, Thursday, January 17, 1957 THE CAPITAL JOURNAL Section 2 Page 1 2 Killed, 2 Mission In Gas Blast PEORIA, 111. -Two rapid-fire explosions in a city gas line lev eled a house and a two-story building last night, killing two persons. Two others were missing and believed dead. Five were in jured. Killed by the blasts and subse quent (ire were Perry Traub. 40. operator of a grocery In the build ing, and John J. Heitzman. 61, owner of both the building and the house. Heitzman's son-in-law Robert J. Einfeldt, about 45, and Einfeldt's son Robert Jr., 11, were believed dead in the charred rubble. Einfeldt's other son Kenneth. , and Heitzman's wife Opal, 60, escaped from the house after the blasts. 1'rs. Heilzman suffered severe burns and cuts and her condition was described as "ser ious." The boy was only slightly Injured. The Central Illinois Light Co., said a company truck had been dispatched to the scene before the explosions occurred. The company aid an unidentified resident of the neighborhood had complained of a heavy odor of leaking gas. - Police said witnesses reported Traub had called Heitzman to re port a gas leak in his store. They reported Heitzman, joined by Ein feldt, went with Traub to search for the leak shortly before the explosions. Rubble After Explosion X. St. Paul Crab Feed ST. PAUL (Special) The St. Paul American Legion Post 132 will sponsor a stag crab feed at the St. Paul city hail Friday eve ning, Jan. 23, starting at 7 p.m. The admission will include crab feed and entertainment. Post commander, Edwin Woodruff states 'hat the feed is open to all men of the area regardless of Legion affiliation. REFUGEES HAVE GIRL MOLALLA (Special) Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Mohrholtz, recently arrived in Molalla, as refugees from eastern Germany, are the parents of a baby daughter born in Silverton hospital Sunday morn ing, January 13, weighing nearly nine pounds.
