MILLER, Vice-President 0 .Tonights .fhd dipt fail The time: 11 o'clock tonight. The change: new telephone numbers for Salem. The reason : new numbers with prefixes fit your phone into a nationwide plan of telephone numbers, so that one day you'll be able to dial your own long distance calls. .V '' 1. After 11 o'clock tonight, the num bers in your new phone book are the ones to use. Remember, your calls can't go through if you use the old numbers. To avoid confusion, you'll want to throw away your old out-of-date phone book. 2. The new numbers start with a pre fix: EMpire2,EMpire3orEMpire4. When you get the new number from the new phone book, it's a good idea to jot it down. That way, you have it right in front of you while you're dialing your call. 3. Dialing the new numbers is simple. Just remember to dial the first two letters and numeral in the new prefix. To call EMpire 4-9400, for example, you first dial the prefix E-M-4 . . . then 9-4-0-0. You'll be sure of good service if you dial carefully. 53) Pacific Telephone
