Since the constitution prohibits 'two consecutive terms for a presi-' dent, Magloire last May ordered election machinery to be set up for choosing his successor. Campaigning began immediately ; and at this point you get two ' different stories. ) Magloire and his adherents charged that the leading presiden tial candidates appealed to the people solely on the basis of "vicious criticism" of the govern-! ment, and "incited the people to' terrorism and violence." The candidates were jailed last week and this correspondent's re quest to interview them was re fused. Their backers, however, i said Magloire never intended to hold an election. They say last week's bombings, In which one man was killed, were staged by the government as an excuse to put the political leaders In prison and call off the election. Northwest Air Undecided on Type of Jets WASHINGTON Iff Donald W. N rop, prc-id?!it of Northwest Air lines, said Thursday Northwest has purchased 21 jet engines but has not yet ordered the airplanes in which they will be used. Nyrnp told a reporter the Pratt and' Whitnev J73 jet engines were ordered last April after the manu facturer eave notice a price in crease was coming. Nyrop did not disclose the price paid for the engine s. Other sources said, however, that North west probably saved more than a half million dollars by buying be fore the reported 15 per cent price increase went into effect. Nyrnp said the engines would not be de livered until 1S60. Nyrop, here on business for the airline, said Northwest hasn't de cided whether to buy the Boeing; 707 or the Douglas DC8 jet trans-1 port. He indicated a decision will be made within 90 days. He said ( the Northwest let transport or-1 dered would amount to between S5 and 38 million dollars. Both the 707 and DC8 will use the J75 engine for extreme range a overseas schedules. Navy Orders More Missiles WASHINGTON - The Navy, laid Thursday that Chance Vought Aircraft. Dallas. Tex . has received Jiew Navy orders for guided missiles totaling 26 mil lion dollars. .The new orders are for addi tional missiles of the Reuulus I and the Reculus II. The Regulus I is an operational attack missile, launched from ships at targets several hundred miles away.
