Dances Saturday Christmas dance will be Satur day at 8 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus hall for members of the Square dance club and anyone in terested. The December dance ot the month, the Christmas waltz. will be reviewed. Clyde Charters will be the caller for the square and round dances. Coffee will be served at 11 p.m., with one hour of round dancing to follow. Danc ers are to bring their own lunches. MEMBERS of Willamette Valley During the last few veeks sev eral of the Salem students have made a showing in the field of accomplishments. Robert Stevens and Gary Weber, majors in journ alism, were initiated into Sigma Delta Chi, men's national journal ism honorary. Also,- Gary Wright. HOTC cadet, received thc Military Science I commendation award. Although the Oregon varsity started their basketball season last weekend, the frosh team has until January It to get into shape. Salem will be well represented on (lie Duckling team by Dale Jones, who is trying for the center po sition, Jim Allen who is trying for one of the forward positions, and Ed Syring who is trying for one of the guard positions. Last weekend various living or ganizations on campus celebrated the coming holidays by going caroling, having parties, and do ing charity work. Some Salemites who participated with the carol ing groups were Sally Merrill, arry Goodman, Rich Castle, Courtney Kurtz, Dale Jones, Julie Miller and Linda Davis. Helping with the charitable affairs were Marion Baum, Bob Prall, Barbara Miss Mozara , Wed in South A wedding of interest to Salem friends was that of Miss Mama Marie Mozara, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Mozara, Oakland, Calif., and 1st Lt. Michael Sten strom Tavenner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph W. Tavenner, Salem. The ceremony was Saturday, No vember 24, at 12 o'clock noon, at the chapel at Treasure Island. The Rev. Peter' Marron officiated. Soloist was Miss Gilda Rando. Matron of honor for her sister was Mrs. Joseph P. Vogel, who wore if rust cryst alette waltz length dress with tucked neckline I and three-quarter length sleeves. Bridesmaids were Miss Marilyn i Rahmstorf and Miss Betsy Krause, classmates of the bride, at Mills College. They wore light green crystalette dresses styled like the honor attendant's, and matching headbands, and carried bouquets of gold and rust flowers. The bride wore a full length dress of Chantilly lace, styled with high neckline, shadow collar and long sleeves. The fingertip length veil fell from a crown. The bride carried a shower bouquet of car nations and stephanotis, centered with a white orchid. Mr. Mozara gave his daughter in marriage. Best man was Raymond Raaf, and ushers were 1st Lt. Charles Pilchard and 1st Lt. Richard Cun ningham. Ring bearer was John Vogel, nephew of the bride. The bride's mother attended the wedding in a gray-blue Italian silk two-piece dress with matching hat, black patent leather accessor ies and white orchid corsage. The bridceg room's mother wore a navy linen and beige ensemble, navy accessories and white orchid corsage. A reception was given following the ceremony, in the Officer's club at Treasure Island. Chapter Entertained Mrs. R. C. Johnson spoke on living conditions and customs in Greece, at the meeting of Xi Lambda chapter, Beta Sigma Phi Wednesday evening, at the home of Mrs. Jack Kailey. Mrs. John son and her family lived in Greece for several years while Mr. John son was adviser to the Greek gov ernment lor the economic co operative administration. Mrs. l.e Roy Mink was program chairman. Mrs. John Ellis, service chair man, announced that plans for the club to give each guest at a local convalescent home Christmas gifts and a fruit basket. Mrs. John Bone was appointed representative to thc city council, to replace Mrs. Burl Cox. The chapter voted in favor of the city council sponsoring the Beauticians association hair and style show to be presented in the future, with proceeds to go the naven scnooi. Soroptimist Club Guest speakers at the meeting of Salem club, Soroptimist Inter national, were Jay Cox, personnel manager of Allstate Insurance company, and Frank Mechek. as sistant claims manager of Allstate, who talked on insurance policies. The club will meet next Wednes day for a Christmas party at the home of Mrs. William Burghardt, when gifts are to be brought for the girls at Hillcrest school. Method: Wash and dry chicken breasts: cut each in half and trim off any small bits of over hanginr skin. Heat olive oil i n larce labout 10 inches! skillet: add. mushrooms; cover and cook slowly , sides. Remove. Add onion to drop pings in skillet and cook gently untd wilted; add mushrooms. Cook over moderate heat until softened, tirring often. Add a little butter to the skillet if needed. Place chicken breasts over onions and mushroms: cover and cook slowly until chicken is tender.
