Mount Angel Decorates With
Lights, Greens, for Holidays
MOUNT ANGEL (Special) The
Mount Angel city street Christma:
decoration program is under way

Christmas greens on the streets
being done under the supervision
of Peter Meissner, city street com
missioner. Besides the lighting,
other features include the decorat
ing of a large tree planted on the
city hall lawn, and cedar bough:

Other business taken care of at
the council meeting was a report
from William Bean, sports chair
man, regarding the Mount Angel
youth recreation program. Bean
announced that the winter sport;
progrtm will begin Monday eve
ning. Dec. 17. at tne si. mary ;
parish gymnasium, which will be
open from 7 to 9 o ciock, Monday
Wednesday and 'mursflay eve
nines, under supervision.

sary connections in. order that the
new city well may be put into
service.
The renewal of a license to oper
ate a wrecking yard within the
city limits by Vic Meissner, was
granted.

The Chief of Police also report
ed that four boys, from the ages
of 11 to 14. were caught shoplift-
and after making' the boys
return the merchandise, he look
them to their homes and turned
them over to their parents.
Street Commissioner Meissner
reported on the installation of tile
Oak and Marquam streets:
numbering of houses; cleaning up
of flower beds, parks, and drain
ge ditches; also additional gravel
placed on Leo and May streets.

MONALLA (Special) - When
Molalla city council meets next
Tuesday, new ' councilmen to be
sworn in will be Elton Everliart,
Ernest Clark and Jack Gregory.
Holdover counciimcn are Ossic
Marson, Raleigh F. Morrow and
Dr. T. F. Johnson. Everhnrt and
Clark are newly elected and Greg
ory was re-elected, reports Mayor
Fred Avcrill who also was re
elected as mayor in the recent
election. Their terms of office will
start Jan. 1.
LONGS HAVE GIRL
MOLALLA (Speclal)-Mr. and
Mrs. Eldon Long (Alma Belile)
are the parents of a girl weigh
ing eight pounds, born Nov. 29 in
Silverton hospital. She has been
named Fnyne Marie. Grandpar
ents in Molalla are Mr. and Mrs.
nek Long. The Eldon Longs live
in the Shade Long house and he
drives a logging truck.

CLEAR LAKE (Special) - The
children of the first four grades of
the Clear Lake school have moved
into the new two-room addition of
the school.
The old two-room building, con
structed prior to 1890, will remain
in use as a multi purpose room,
where the children may have their
music, hobbies, and play In in
clement weather.
Grades five through eight are
In new building. One room was
finished In 1956, the second room
constructed in 1954.

Fete Pomeroy
SILVERTON (Special) - Dr.
and Mrs. J. M. Pomeroy and their
family will be guests of the Sil
verton Methodist church on Sun
day. Dr. Pomeroy will address
the congregation at the Sunday
morning worship hour and with his
family will be honored at the cofr
fee hour in the church fellowship
hall following the services.
Dr. Pomeroy, who was on the
staff of the State Tuberculosis hos
pital In Salem, has just returned
from serving as head of the tu
berculosis unit of the 300-bcd,
Melhodist-sponsored Clara Swain
hospital In Bareilli, India, when
he was stationed for five years. Al
present he is in The Dalles, Ore
gon.
