The system will include the in stallation of a base station, prob ably at the county shops and the niacins nf an timat04 in nut lets in mobile equipment. The court authorized the radio program upon the recommenda tion of County Engineer John Anderson who has conducted an investigation of the benefits to be derived. The countv pnrrpnl. City Council Okays Voter Sound Truck The Democratic Central com mittee has received city council permission to operate a sound truck to encourage potential vot ers to register, but it was made clear that there would be no po litical advertising on the vehicle. A sound car, which was to pro vide music for a Veterans M World War I parade here last week was prohibited from participating after it was found to carry posters urging election of a political can didate. Alderman P. W. Hale, who pre sented the request for the regis tration sound car . from John Horn, county Democratic chair man, said he had been assured that the vehicle would bear no party or candidate's name. Some 450 teamsters employed by the company quit work and set up a picket line, but went back to work after the ousted driver, Don ald Rohwer of Portland, got back his job. Rohwer had been fired for re fusing to cross a picket line at the strike-bound Swift and Co. packing plant. Consolidated spokesman Neil Broady said later that its contract with the Team sters provides that drivers can not be fired for refusing to cross a picket line.
