and blue were the colors chosen
, hy Miss Wanda Elaine Holmes
for . her wedding Sunday, when
she was married to James Steph
en McClelland of Chicago. The
bride, is the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Forest Holmes of Roseburg,
former residents of Dallas and
Mr. McClelland is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. James McClelland of Sa
lem. Dr. George G. Rbscberry
officiated at the 3 o'clock double
ring ceremony at the First
Methodist church in Dallas.
Baskets of yellow gladioluses
and candclabrums with tall ta
pers were arranged at the altar
and formed a background for
the rites. An arrangement of
yellow gladioluses was oir the
organ. Lighting the candles were
Charles McClelland of Salem, a
cousin of the bridegroom, and
Frances (Andy) Anderson of
Portland. Soloist was Terry Mur
ray, accompanied at the organ
by Mrs. Wendell .DeHaven who
also played the nuptial music.
The bride was presented in
marriage by her father. She was
attired in a dress of white nylon
tulle and lace over satin. The
tulle bodice featured a collar, of
lace with lace forming a V on
the front and back of the bodice.
The long sleeves of tulle were
edged with lace at the wrists.
The floor length bouffant skirt
was of pleated tulle with an
apron effect ovcrskirt of tulle
edged with lace. The fingertip
veil of tulle was held in place
; by a tiara enhanced with seed
pearls. The bride carried a white
orchid with clusters of stcphan
otis resting on a white Bible.
) Sister of. the bride,. Mrs. Rob
ert Hankins of Coos Bay, was ma
tron of honor and wore a baller
ina length dress of blue crystal
'iette in front, and back. Brides
r maids were Miss Sue Ostrom,
Milwaukie, a sorority sister, and
Mrs. Ron Culver of Salem. Their
costumes were the same as the
matron of honor's, and all the
bridal attendants carried bou--quets
of yellow gladioluses with
blue ribbon and tied with blue
bows. i
Flower girls were Jeannie and
Julie Orcutt, small nieces of the
. bridegroom. They were dressed
in frocks of .yellow organdy and
carried baskets of yellow flowers.
Ron Culver, Salem, stood with
Mr. McClelland and ushers were
Charles McClelland, a cousin,
Salem, and Frances" Anderson,
Portland.
Mrs. Holmes chose for her
daughter' swedding an ensemble
of cocoa brown lace with a
matching lace jacket. Her ac
cessories were of cocoa and
cream. The mother of the bride
groom wore a' blue linen weave
dress enhanced with lace and a
matching lace jacket. With this
she wore white accessories. Both
mothers wore corsages of . pink
cymbidium orchids.
The young couple greeted their
guests after the ceremony, in the
church social rooms. Baskets of
yellow flowers were about the
rooms and the bride's table was
covered with a linen cloth inset
with a lace. The tiered bridal
cake decorated in blue and yel
low was flanked by crystal can
dlesticks. Cutting the cake was
Mrs. Elmer Scheelar, aunt of the
bride, from Portland, assisted by
Miss Sue Shreeve of Eugene.
Pouring were Mrs. Fred Zito,
cousin of the bride, from Mon
mouth and Mrs. Sam Orcutt, sis
ter of bridegroom, Salem. Assist
ing about the rooms were Miss
Phyllis Ruitcr, Miss LaVelle Au
bcrt, Portland, Mrs. Donald Over
holser, Lebanon. Taking the
gifts was Miss Ruiter and cir
culating the guest book was Mrs.
Otto Skopil, Jr. of Salem.
For traveling the bride don
ned a brown sheath dress with
'matching - overjacket trimmed
with white collar and cuffs and
white accessories. She wore the
orchid from her bridal bouquet.
The couple left Sunday evening
for Chicago where they will make
their home. Mr. McClelland is
employed by Continental Can
company in Chicago as a research
engineer.
Preceding the wedding rehears
al Saturday evening a buffet sup
per entertained members of the
bridal party and parents of the
bridal couple at the home of
Mrs. 0. E. Holmes, grandmother
of the bride. ,
Present were Miss Holmes and
Mr. McClelland, who arrived in
Salem from Chicago Friday, their
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Forrest
Holmes, Roseburg, Mr. and Mrs.
James McClelland, Salem, Ron

Portland, Mr. and Mrs. Robert

Powers Placed
On Probation
Robert Loren Powers, 28, Turn
er. was place on two years pro'
bation Monday by Marion County
Circuit Judge George Duncan, who
suspended sentencing the man on
a. burglary conviction.
Powers pleaded guilty July 30 to
a charge of burglary not in a
dwelling. He admitted breaking
into two .Silvcrton business houses
earlier in the month.
A pre-sentence investigation in
fluenccd Judge Duncan's decision.
Harrisburg Man
Pleads Guilty to
Check Charge
George Krcig, ,12, Harrisburg.
waived grand jury investigation
and pleaded guilty Monday to a
charge of attempting to obtain
money by false pretenses.
Krcig admitted attempting to
cash a worthless check August 8
at a local store. He was arrested
last Friday. Sentence is expected
to be imposed this week by Cir
cuit Judge George Duncan, who is
hearing the case.

For Non-Support
A California man who came to
Salem to visit bis dependents was
arrested Monday night by Marion
county s.ierilf deputies on a non
support charge.
Now lodged in Marion county
jail on $500 bail is Revere Knight
George, 35, San Francisco.
The circuit court warrant
ac.iinst him was issued about six
months ago, deputies said.
