The bride woro a dress of rose
patterned Jaco and. pylon tulle.
Tho bodice, trimmed with Irides
cent scauins. was styled with hand
cut lace outlining the neckline and
with short sleeves. The tulle skirt
was banded with the lace. The'fin-
gertip veil was arranged from a
headpiece of rose patterned lace
embroidered In sequins. The bride
carried a cascade of roses and sle
phanotis with' an orchid in the
center.
Miss Jackie Hansen, sister of the
bride, was maid of honor. The
bridesmaids' were Mrs. Thomas
Tavener of Albany, Ore., Miss
Helen Hopkins of Lcwiston, Idaho,
a'nd Miss Nannctto Monk of Port
land, a cousin of the bride. All
wore princess style frocks of light
turquoise embroidered taffeta,
ballerina length. They cnrrlcd bas
kets ol daisies and tiny roses, tied
with turquoise ribbons.
Karen Marie Hansen, cousin ot
the bride, and Carol Holman were
Ilower girls, both wearing white
dresses. Gregg Riggs, nephew of
the bridegroom, was ringbcarer.

The bride's mother wore a lav
ender and while printed nylon
dress, and the bridegroom's mo
ther wore a navy blue dress. Their
corsages both were of gold orchids.
The reception was in the church
parlors. Mrs. S. N. Monk ol Port
land, aunt of the bride, poured
the cotlec, Mrs. Thomas Nash ol
Salem, the punch. Cutting the cake
were Mrs. Chester Hansen of Iing
view and Mrs. F.noch Hansen, Port
Angeles, aunts ot the bride. As
sisting were Miss Dolores rrctiss

volt of Burlington, Wash., Miss

For her going away costume
the bride wore a beige linen dress
embroidered in white, beige and
brown accessories.
Following a trip to Crater lake
and the Oregon const, the couple
will he at home In Seattle. Both

Mr. and Mrs. William English of
Salem, grandparents ot the bride
groom, were among guests from
Salem at the wedding.

At Portland Rites

Lois Rockhill, daughter of Mrs.
Lulu A. Rockhill. of Grand Island.
and Orvllic D. Winters, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Arthur Winters of New
berg, were united in marriage
Thursday evennig, August 16, at
the First Friends church in Pork
land. The Rev. Euger.e V. Lamb of
Spokane, Wash., offlicated at the
8 o'clock service. Afrs. Genevieve
Cole played the organ and Dick
Cadd was soloist.
The bride, given in marriage by
Her brother, James Rockhill,. wore
a wedding dress of white lace with
net bodice and ' a net skirt over
satin. The illusion veil was finger
tip length. The bride carried a
white orchid on a while Bible.
Mrs. Eugene Lamb, sister of the
bride, served as matron of honor.
She was attired in erf apple green
taffeta formal with a headband of
daisies and a short annle green
veil.
The best man was Norman Win
ters; twin brother', of the bride
groom. Ushers were Gene Smith,
uclbcrt Stoll, Wcndall Hanson, and
C. W. Hanson.
A dedication service conducted
by the Rev. Charles Beals of New-
berg followed the wedding. The
bridegroom will be entering the
ministry of the Friends church
when he completes seminary which
he has been attending al Wilmore,
Ken. During this service Mr. Cadd
sang. .
A reception took place in the
church parlors immediately after
tho ceremonies. Mrs. Arnette
White and Mrs. Gilbert Rickey, sis
ters of the bride, served the cake.
Mrs. Carl Wood, also the bride's
sister, and Mrs. Eugene Kitchmil-
ler poured the punch. .

At Farewell Parties

zel Butler, who has taught at the
Sheridan grade schuol for the past
in years, was given two farewell
handkerchief showers this week

memDers of the bhen-Mina circle.
Neighbors of Woodcraft at their
meeting. , Twenty-eight members
honored her with a no-host dinner
at the Odd Fcllqws temple. A so
cial evening followed the dinner,
with games being played. Mrs. Ef
nest Frack and Mrs. Gladys' Plum-
mcr served refreshments later in
the evening. ; . ,
A luncheon in .the city nark was
given for Mrs. Butler by her third
grade .students ;at the. Chapman
gram scnooi.;
Mrs. Butler and htr family will
move to Port Orford, where shfr
will teach this year.

Mr. and Mrs. Norvin Northrup,
Diana and Steven of St. Francis,
Kan., Noel Brown of Idalia, Colo.,.
Mr. and Mrs. Dave Andrews and
Kathy of Eugene were Sunday din
ner guests of Mr. and Mrs; Maxon
Brown and Gary, south of Salem.
It was the first- family gathering
since June of '54;' Mrs. Northrup,
Mrs. Andrews, Noel and Gary
Brown are Mr; and Mrs. Browns'
children. The Browns have recent
ly moved into the Willamette area,
arriving here June 1 from their for
mer home at Far Away Farms In
Colorado. The Northrups visited at
the Brown and Andrews homes for
several days, before ' returning to
Kansas. Noel Brown will spend a
few weeks with his -parents Jjefore
entering .Colorado university, at
Boulder, Colo., as an engineering
student. -

condensed frozen cream b shrimp
soup, 2 'tablespoons tomato paste,
Ji teaspoon sugar, Vi , teaspoon

Method: Place' unopened can of
soup in hot Water for 2 to 3 min-j
utes before opening for easy re
moval. Turn soup into a saucepan:
mi soup can with water and add.
Heat slowly, stirring often, Until
melted; don't worry if soup looks
curdly. Bring to a boil. Add tomato
pasiu, sugar ana .curry powder.
Stir well and' allow to stand over
low ' heat a ' few minutes. Serve
sprinkled wlth chivcs or parsley if
desired.; Makes, 2 .servings. .

Gladys Plummer, state president
of the Eagles auxiliary, was hon
ored last week by the Sheridan
auxiliary with a reception follow
ing the regular meeting. During
the social hour, she told of her trip
to PiitsDurg, penn., this summer.
