Rhoten-Doughton Wedding
Of Interest on Wednesday
One of the beautiful weddings of bride, was flower girl, wearing a
early summer here took place dress matching those of the at
Wednesday night in the Fi r s 1 1 tendants', and Steven Doughton a
Methodist church when Miss Cor-1 nephew of the bride, was ring-
alie Joyce Doughton, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Millard B. Doughton,
was married to David Alexander
Rhoten, son of Mr. and Mrs.
George A. Rhoten. Dr. Brooks H.
Moore officiated at the 8 o'clock
rites.
All white flowers were used in
deenrating. At either side of the
steps leading to the altar was a
basket of gladioluses, stock and
fluffy white chrysanthemums in
sunburst arrangement. On the
altar were bouquets of the same
flowers, a candelabrum with
white tapers standing out from
each altar bouquet.
Lighting the candles preceding
the service were Itichard Meyer
and John Beakey. For the music,
Mrs. Peter M. Gunnar and Mrs.
Robert F. Anderson each sang
solos, and later a duct, Mrs.
Jesse Jones playing the organ.
Escorted down the aisle by her
father the bride was charmingly
attired in a simple but elegantly
styled dress of pure silk peau dc
oie. The princess bodice was
adorned only by linked medallions
of re-embroidered alencon lace to
form the cateau neckline, and the
sleeves were heavily embellished
with seed pearls. The material ,
flared into a bouffant skirt to ter
minate in a rhapel train. The veil
was arranged from a headdress of
nylon tulle and lace. The bride
carried a white fan of imported
lace bedecked with a cluster of
baby pink orchids and white steph
anotis. Attendants In Pink
The bride's attendants were all
in pink erystalette frocks, bailer-;

broidered panels. They all wore
pale pink feathered caps jeweled
with tiny rhincstones, and they
all carried imported ebony fans
trimmed with pink Elfc roses,

Ingredients: 1 pound shrimp.
cup buitor. 2 tahleviwons olive oil.
1 small dove garlic 'peeled and
minced1, sail, paprika. 2 t.ihle
sponns minced parsley.
Method: Shell raw shrimp and
de-vein. Melt butter in small
shallow pan: stir in olive oil and
garlic. Add shrimp, turning them
over in the butter-oil mixture to
make sure they are well coated
Sprinkle lichtly with salt and pap
rika. Broil shrimp rapidly until
cooked through, turning once and
sprinkling again uilh paprika

Welcome Wagon Club
Mrs. Jack Lumbley was installed
as president of the Welcome Wag
on club at the meeting, Tuesday,
at the Woman's club house. Other
officers installed were Mrs. Frank
Cooper, vice president; Mrs. Kel
ley Peters, secretary; and Mrs.
John Anderson, treasurer. Mrs.
Ralph Purchase, president of the
Portland club, was installing offi
cer. Marvin Clatterbuck, superinten
dent of the Oregon School for the
Deaf, spoke briefly to the club,
acknowledging their work with the
school during the past year. The
club undertook the work as a civic
project. After his talk, Mrs. R. II.
Vincent, outgoing president, pre
sented him with a check from the
club for the school's scholarship
fund.
Musical entertainment was pro
vided by Miss Leslie Cline, vocal
ist, who was accompanied by Miss
Patricia Whelan.
Kleven members of the Portland
club were present at the Salem in
stallation. Guests from Salem were
Mrs. Mel Fox, Mrs. Owen Searcy,

At the meeting of the Salem Re
bekah lodge Monday evening, it
was announced that the Rebekah
lodge drill team of Oregon City
will present a drill at the next
meeting of the Salem lodge on
June 23.

friends of the bride's family. Miss
Beatrice Redifer was in charge of

The couple went to the Oregon
beaches, then on to San Francisco
where Ensign Roethe is stationed.
