This Beau Has All Needed
Qualities; But He's Married
Hv DOROTHY DIX
DEAR DOROTHY DIX: Barry and I arc bolh in the armed
forces ami have been stationed at the same base for over a year.
We've gone together most of thai time, but il wasn't until three
DEAR SHKI.IA: Thai's what
a man can absent-mindedly shelve his wile, then be considered
thoughtful, considerate and honest by the little sweetie to whom he
plans a second marriage. What kind of reasoning is that'.'
I wonder if you'll think making love to another woman is Con
siderate if he ever happens lo become your husband. Thoughtful
he may be; yours he is nol! Stop seeing him, is my advice if
you haven't gathered as much already.
DEAR DOROTHY DIXl Dick and I went together for awhile and
had the time of our lives; then Dot appeared on the scene. She
likes the fun ol winning men hut tires of them quickly.
After a few date; she began her usual routine of keeping him
waiting, failing to keep appointments, without explanation, etc,
Kcccnllv he asked me out (or the first time in weeks, and I ac-
cepled, not knowing Doi had already tiirned him down.
Should I tight for him or quietly lane out ol llie picture'
Desperate.
DEAR DESPERATE: Fight, tooth and nail, and with any wea
pons available. This type of competition calls for no holds barred.
DEAR DOROTHY DIX: Etiquette books say that prospective
brides .should have their linens, china, glassware and silverware. I
belong to a club and we were arguing about this. Some mothers
don't believe in it; they think the couple should get those things
after they are married. Most young people can't afford all these
things and why should the hoy buy them when he has the furniture
to gel'' Since we don't have doweries any more, the least the girl
Can do is buy these essentials. A. It
DEAR A H.: Bet a million you're thc mother of a prospective
groom. Etiquette doesn't prescribe what a girl must have before
she's married. Kven a hope chest i.s left to her own inclination.
Of course the majority of girls do begin collecting things ty soon
as they become engaged, at least, and if the young lady doesn't show
that much interest in her new home, her fiance better think twice
