Don Eva, deputy vice commander will
speak. All members of the auxilairy and

Jaycee-Ettes will install new officers -at
a semi-formal dinner dance February 11,
in the Capitol room of the Senator hotel.

To create more widespread interest in
the coming school election, members of the
Sry.m Heights Mothers club have arranged
two informal coffee gatherings.
Next Monday morning, area chairmen in
the club's project are meeting for coffee
at 10 o'clock at the home of Mrs. Brace
Knapp, 4160 Gardner, to outline their work
in arousing interest in the bond issue.
Another coffee, open to all patrons and
friends of the school, is planned for Febru
ary 2.

The service was at 10 o'clock, the Rev.
Math. Jonas officiating.

For the music, Joe Dougherty and Duane
Heuberger sang and Miss Josephine Brand
played the organ.
The bride wore a nylon net over satin
dress. The bodice was pf Chantilly lace and
was fashioned with a neckline of net edged
in lace. The full skirt fell in tiers of pleat
ed nylon pet and lace forminfi a chapel
train. The illusion nylon net veil, fingertip
in length, was arranged from a coronet
trimmed In pearls and sequins. The bride
carried a cascade bouquet ol feathered
white carnations, white hyacinths, a white
orchid and pearls. Gerald Kinlz escorted
his sister to the altar.
- Mrs. Harvey Keudell, a sister of the
bride, was honor attendant. She wore a
forest green crystalette dress, fashioned
with fitted bodice and full flare skirt, tiny
fileated trim enhancing the neckline and
orming inserts on the skirt. She wore a
headdress matching her frock.
Mrs. Leon Berning, Miss Janice Jung-',
wirlh and Miss Mary Lee Miller were
bridesmaids. Their dresses matched that
worn by the honor attendant. All four at
tendants carried cascade bouquets of white
'pom pon chrysanthemums and 'white
feather plumes.
Don-la Lulay was best man for his
brother. William Lulay, Jr., a brother,
Duane Bradley and Harvey Keudell were
groomsmen and ushering were Leo Gros
Jacquea and Gilbert Kinlz.
At the close of the mass the coup!e went
to the side altar where the bride placed
miniature nosegay. ...
The bride's mother wore a mos
wool suit with beige and brown ncceE-tr ea
and a corsage of pink orchids. The bride
groom's mother wore a blue suit with blue
and white accessories and corsage of pink
orchids.
The reception was in the parish hall. Mrs.
Herman Hassler and Mrs. August Ecitcl
cut the cake. Mra. Mary Kintz poured cof
fee and Mrs. Francis Jun;wirth was at the
punch bowl. Assisting were Mrs. A. M.
Minden, Mrs. Carl Podrabsky, Mrs. Leonard
Schmaciier, Mrs. Louie Freres, Miss Lanita
Boedigheimer, Mrs. Jack Cries, Mrs, Ted,

Salem Students Active on Campus

University of Oregon, Eugene (Special)
Dads Weekend is coming up soon and
many Salem students are keeping them
selves busy with the weekend plans. Judy
Loucks is co-chairman of hostess selection
and Kaye Tomlinson is one of her commit
tee members. The four finalists, two from
Portland and two from Eugene, were select
ed Wednesday. Each living organization on
campus nominates a married girl who is
enrolled at the university or whose husband
is enrolled. These . girls are interviewed
twice by three judges, the ASUO president,
a Eugene business man, and an alumnus of
the university. The campus will vole for
the hostess Tuesday, Wednesday, and
Thursday before Dads Weekend, February
3, 4, and 5.
Sally Jane Hoy is co-chairman of Special
Events for the weekend. She will be in
charge of the entertainment at the Friday
nisht game. At the Saturday game the co
chairmen will present trophies for Dads
registration. The men and women's organi
zations with the best record of Dads at
tending the weekend and also the Fresh
man dorm with the highest representation
will be given awards.
Four other Salemitcs arc working on the
luncheon committee for Dads Weekend.
They are Sondra Jochlmtcn, Nancy Sue
Payne, Connie Hammond, and Gladys
Maude.
Men's open rush will be completed for
winter term tomorrow night. Women's
open rush will Ihfn begin next Monday
and continue for three weeks. Sally Hoy,
a member of the Panhellenlc council, has
been busy this term working with the
council to set up the women's rushing
schedule for the campus.
Last weekend several Salem students at
tended one or both of the basketball games
with the University of California. Among
them were Jeff Walton, Sally Jo Greig,
Darlcne Crawley, Bruce King, Karen John
son, Jan McAlnine, Julie Astrup, Stan
Dvorak. Kaye Tomlinson, Marlene Bron
snn, Bill Malnwaring, Sharon Johnsin, San
dra Carter, Stanley Page, end Glenn Ben
ner, directing the pep band.
Last Sunday evening the YWCA spon
osorcd a smorgasbord dinner for the campus.
About 300 atudents attended the dinner.
Nancy Lidbeck helped with the decorations
soft candlelight and fir houghs. The
background music was Swedish. Sondra
Jnchimsen helped with the serving. Kaye
Tomlinson, Marion Baum, flum Brown,
Judy Loucks, Anne Hcltzcl, JoAnn Hoover,
and Dick Engdahl were some of the Salem
itcs indulging in the Swedish food.
Sally Jo Greig is beginning a busy term.
Her biggest job at present is Oregana
photography editor. Julie Astrup is also
working on the Oregana. Her job is the
housing section of the year book.
Next Saturday night freshmen will ba
attending the Frosh Sno-Ball formal dance.
Only freshmen and their dates may attend
this dance. Anne Heltzel is in charge of
the program and guest invitations for the
formal. '
This weekend several 'Salem girls are
being initiated by their sororities. Among
them arc Alpha Chi Omega, Gladys Maude,
Jan McAlpine, and Carolyn Madscn; PI Beta
Phi, Jcan'Lidhcck and Nancy Sue Payne;
Alpha Phi, Kaye Tomlinson and Sondra
Jochlmsen.
Dick Engdahl is performing this after
noon In the Student Union "Friday at 4
(one-half hour of campus entertainment
each Friday afternoon.)" Dick is doing a
pantomime called "Blood on the Saddle."
Dick, Judy Kuhn, and Carolyn Madsen
have contributed their arlistic talents lo
help make posters lor the Religious Evalu
ation week, which begins this Sundav. Dur
ing this week students on campus will have
the opportunity to hear and talk to repre
sentatives of seven different faiths. Bud
dhism, Eastern Orthodrx Christianity, Hin
duism, Islamism, Judaism, and the Protes
tant and Roman Catholic faiths.
Judy Loucks has just been selected by
Paahellenic as co-chairman of Greek Week,
April 4-7. .
The purpose of Greek Week is to further
educate the Greeks and the Independants
about the National Greek projects.
A tentative schedule of events has been
set for the week. It includes an all-Greek
banquet Wednesday, honoring the most
outstanding Greek of the year. Thursday
an orientation assembly is scheduled. A
panel of Greeks and Independants will he
the speakers of this assembly open to
everyone. The purpose of each, the advan
tages and disadvantages will be some of the
topics. Friday will feature a community
service project, that of cleaning up Hen
dricks Park. Exchange dinners will be fol
lowed Friday night by a Variety show em
phasizing the "Crusade for Freedom."
Saturday at noon a picnic for all Greeks
ia planned and followed hy the alhletic
games. Saturday night the week will b
completed by an all-Greek dance.
