Hounsell Gets
Apology From
Labor Council
PORTLAND HI The Oregon
State Federation of Labor Friday
apologized for an error in its re
cent evaluation of the voting rec
ords of members of the State Legislature.
The evaluation came under tha
attack recently oi State Sen. John
P. Hounsell, Hood River Republi
can. He said the AFL Incorrectly
identified a bill which he was re
ported voting against.
James T. Marr, executive sec
retary of the federation, said it
was a "most regrettable" error
that a wrong description of S. B.
7 listing it as the bill making
Portland State College a degree
granting institution had been car
ried. S. B. 7 actually called for
raising tha minimum salaries of
teachers. ,
Marr said only a few copies of
the erroneous report had been dis
tributed before the mistake was
discovered. The remainder ara be
ing corrcted, he said.
Hounsell also complained ot the
wording in the description of a
memorial to Congress on John Day
Dam. Marr offered no apology on
this point.
