Boy to Inherit

NEW YORK Ufi Young William
Anthony Burton's fortune, which
he inherits through a family
tragedy, has been figured at near
ly eight million dollars.
William, now 1,2, used to be
known as Wayne William Loner
gan. His name was changed after
his father Wayne Longergan killed
the boy's mother in her fashion
able Beekman Place apartment
in 1943.
The father was convicted of
second degree murder of his
estranged wife Patricia, He is
serving 35 years to life.
Through the death of his mother,
the boy became the only living
heir of her grandfather, wealthy
brewer Max E. Bernheimer, who
died in 1913 and whose widow died
last year.
An accounting of the estate filed
yesterday in Surrogate's Court
showed the boy will inherit $7,
809,918 as soon as the accounts
are approved. He has already re
ceived $3,059,198 of this sum, the
record showed.
William now lives with his
maternal grandmother Mrs.
Lucille Wolfe Burton, who has
been his guardian since shortly
after his father was imprisoned.
Uranium Fever

was still at a high pitch in ihe
Chinook Pass area Tuesday follow
ing reports of a "hot" find by
Thomas Smith of Hainline about
three miles east of the summit.
Seventy-one persons have .filed
uranium claims in the courthouse
here since Friday as prospectors
combed the Chinook Pass and
Humping Lake areas for the pre
cious element. Forty - one claims
were filed Monday.
Prospectors described the Bump
ing Lake area as a "madhouse,"
with as many as 300 cars lined
up along the Copper City road.

radio relay buildings for the
Portland-San Francisco Bay area
microwave system of The Pacific

pany. The winning bid was $237,959,
lowest of 10 bids submitted on
the one-story concrete and block
structures, which will be part jf
a system' costing an estimated
S4.812.000. Oregon's part of the
project, costing $3,000,000, is ex
pected to be completed by Au
gust, 1858.

sion system at the start will pro
vide microwave channels for
three network television pro
grams, plus one standby emerg
ency channel. Later, it will be
equipped to carry, in addition to
TV, hundreds of simultaneous
telephone conversations.
The underground coaxial cable
now piping TV progiams into the
Northwest will be used to aug
ment existing long distance tele
phone facilities when the mic
rowave system goes into opera
tion. One channel in the cable
will be kept available, for trans
mitting television from north to
south when required.

Dredge to Hold
Open House
The Corps of Engineers' Hopper
Dredge Davison will tie up at the
Newport dock Saturday and Sun
day. June 25 and 26. and hold open
house to visitors from 10 a.m. to
6 p.m. both days, according to
Colonel James U. Moorhead,
Portland District Engineer.
The Davison, under command of
Captain Robert W. Kearn of New
port, dregdes ten days and then
lays up for four days. She dredges
24 hours a day.
In addition to work along the
Pacific Coast, the Davison has
worked in ports along the East
Coast and in Korea. Upon com
pletion of her assignment in Ya
quina, she is scheduled to depart
for work in the Hawaiian Islands.
The Davison has a 720-cubic-1
foot capacity. Built in 1945. she is
diesel powered by two 700-horse-
power propulsion engines. She
has a 410-horsepower pump and a
suction and discharge diameter, of
18 inches.
