Lebanon to Hear
legislative Women
LEBANON Three of Oregon's
women legislators will be in Leb
anon Monday evening, March 21,
to address a public meeting in the
city hall auditorium.
Commenting on current events in
the legislature will xbe Mnurinel
Neubcrger. Jean L. Lewis and Kay I
Merrivcnlher, all of Multnomah
county. They ore being brought to
Lebanon under sponsorship of the
democratic central committee.
The meeting will be open to all'
Interested, announced Eva Syl-'
vester, county chairman, and will
begin at 8 p.m.
Spring Opening at
Molalla on April 16
MOLALLA Red Dunning of
radio station K01N definitely
will be In Molalla the day of the
spring opening, April 18, an
nounced Chamher of Commerce
committee in c h a r g e. A free
breakfast or lunch, as the case
may be, will be served downtown
at 11 a.n..; a free drawing at 3
p.m.: a oucen's ball will be given
in thi evening with Heck Har
per's orchestra.
The latest announcement for
the spring opening day will be
the formal opening and dedica
tion of the new city hall, now
being used.
Mrs. ':thel Blatchford will be
acting librariai until Mrs. Mary
l'emble, recovering from recent
surgery, is able to be back at her
Job again. The library is not open
t present, ks it is in the process
of being set up in its new quar
ters in the city hall.

WOODHDHN Don Critchley
of Portland entertained the
Woodburn Hotary club at the
luncheon meeting Thursday noon
with an Impersonation of Dr.
Karl Hoffman, professor of
drama of the University of Ber
lin. He talked in dialect on the
impressions of America as com
pared to (iermany. Lyman Secly
was program chairman.
Next Thursday Dr. Delbert
Reed will bo program chairman
and will present the superinten
dent of the Chemawa Indian
school as the speaker.

WOODBUIJN Plans were
further discussed at the meeting I
of the Woodburn Junior Chamber
of Commerce Tuesday night at
the lihrary club rooms for the
"Teenage Road-e-o" which the
club is sponsoring in May.
Charles Sauvain and Louis Turin
arc in charge of this project, and
the plans arc well under way. j
It was reported that the street
signs for the city have been cut
out and painted and are now I
being stenciled and lettered at
the high school. Posts for the i
signs are to be set in the near!
future. i 1
Twenty members of the local !
group are planning to atend a
banquet in Portland Tuesday eve
ning, March 22, when Lamar.
Cuckner of. Tulsa, Oklahoma,
national president, will be honor-j
ed.
The installation banquet is
tentatively set for April 30 when 1 1
new officers are to be installed.
The nominating committee has
been appointed and will submit
nominations for the offices at I
the next meeting, April S.

tary at the meeting in the ab
sence of Waiter Scarborough Jr.
Refreshments were served by
Dr. Lucas Sprinkcr and Ben
Workman.
