Events Announced
For Job's Daughters
MOLALLA At their Monday
night meeting, members of Inter
national Order of Job's Daughters,
bethel No. 46, Molalla, made plans
tn accept the invitation of Molalla
Theta Rho girls to attend a hay
ride and dancing party the eve
ning of October 30. A letter was
read from the grand librarian,
urging the bethel to keep up
scrapbooks. Each girl is to bring
one article to the next meeting, to
make up a Thanksgiving basket to
be taken to the Masonic-F.astern
Star home for their "grandfather"
and 'grandmother" there.
Plans were made for Friendship
nisht meeting November 1, with
Milwaukie bethel to be invited. In
case Milwaukie girls cannot at
tend, the Gresham bethel will be
invited. As money-making projects,
bethel members are to serve a
dinner for the Masonic lodge mem
bers preceding the men's Novem
ber 11 meeting. A food sale is
planned for Saturday, October 30.
Miss Patricia Allison, honored
queen, announced that election of
officers will be at the December
20 meeting. A special evening for
the Masonic members and Eastern
Star members is planned for the
December 6 meeting.
Mrs. Marshall, guardian, com
plimented the girls on their fine
inspection night conducted jointly
with Oregon City bethel there and
gave them certain pointers on
their work. Leonard Marshall, as
sociate guardian, invited the girls
to a skating party this Saturday
evening. October 23, at cither the
Oaks rink or in Woodburn, in ap
preciation of the girls' excellent
work in selling candy in the state
wide project.
Miss Harryette Swerver was
named chairman of the refresh
ment committee for the next meet
ing; Miss Marcy Walters, chair
man on pledge committee; Misses
Lois Burns, Judy Moehnke and
Judy Kapplcr, cheer committee;
Miss Marycllen Stafford, chair
man, social and entertainment
committee.
Heads Club
SOUTH SALEM Mrs. Harold
Alderin wis elected president of
the Wee Weeders Garden club
at their meeting Tuesday, when
the group opened their fall ses
sion with a no-host luncheon at
the home of Mrs. William
Hughes.
The group made plans for the
chrysanthemum show, scheduled
for Nov. 6 and 7, aX the Salem
Heights Community hall, spon
sored by the Little Garden Club
of Salem Heights. On the entry
committee are Mrs. Aaron
Schalk. Mrs. Lloyd Davenport,
Mrs. Helen Grabenhnrst and Mrs
Harold Alderin. It was decided
to increase the club's member
ship to 20 active members. Pro-

out.
'Welcomed as new members
were Mrs. William Hal, and Mrs.
Lloyd Davenport. Guests were
Mrs. Donald Dawson and Mrs.
Louis Richter.
Reading Club Meets
DAYTON The first fall meet
ing of the Dayton Reading club
met with Mrs. William Stockhoff
last week with dessert lunch at
1 o'clock.
Mrs. Bill Belts, president, presi
ded over the business meeting.
Other officers ar : Mrs. Stockhoff,
vice president; Mrs. Carl Francis,
secretary-treasurer; Mrs. Nellc
Coburn and Mrs. Brooks Sweeney
are on the flower committee.

Mrs. J. L. Shawvcr read interest
ing letters from her daughter-in-law,
Mrs. James Shaw r in Fon
tainbleau, France. Mrs. Shawver
whose mother Mrs. Walter Ivie of
Sheridan, had spent a good part of
the summer in France took several
trips, to Germany, England and
other countries. Mrs. Stockhoff al
so told of the various experiences
of her son Bill, who is with the
Army in Germany.
The club will meet with Mrs.
Carl Francis on November i, at
1 o'clock.
Miss Edler Honored
HUBBARD Honored with a
bridal shower Sunday afternoon
was Miss Armella Edler, Salem,
bride-elect of Louis Doubrava,
Hubbard, at the home of Mrs.
John R. Doubrava assisted by
Mrs. W. J. Doubrava, both of Hub
bard; Mrs. Albert Pirkl and Mrs.
Anton Pirkl both of Molalla and
Mrs. Glen Krieger of Dayton.
Corsages were presented to
Miss Edler and her mother, Mrs.
Esther Edler of Salem. Mra.
Krieger assisted the honor guest
in opening gifts. Decorations I
featured a bridal doll attended by I
two bridesmaids on a white
spread table before a background
of chrysanthemums.
Prizes for games went to Mrs.
Ora Morris, Mrs. Edler and Mrs.
Robert White. Others present in
cluded Mrs. George Waddington,
Mrs. Edward Koutney, Mrs. Floyd
Dominick, Mrs. Paul Bizon, Mrs.
George Grimps, Mrs. Leonard
Bizon and Miss Mary Bronec.
Miss Edler will be married
October 30, 9:30 a.m. at the St
Joseph's church in Salem.
