At the evening service at 7:45 o'clock a sound picture "Ambas sador for Christ," will be shown by the Clackamas County Chris tian Jail group. Rev. Arthur Goble. the pastor, and Mrs. Goble left Monday for Moline, Illinois, to attend the 31st annual con vention of Foursquare churches May 22 through May 28 where Baptists Give Missions Funds The 25th annual business meet ing of the Calvary Baptist church was held in the Hall of Youth, Wednesday evening. Reports of Boards and officers were held. Time was, given to the considera tion of the week-day religious edu cation program proposed by the Ministerial Association. Mr. B. J. Holland, secretary of the Released Time program, presented this is sue. The major report of the evening was concerned with the church's achievement of its anniversary goal to give half of its income to missions. Nearly $24,000 was given by the church for missions and benevolences during the past year. This was S3 per cent of the total amount of the church's expendi ture. The church again voted to match its missions goal with its operating expenses, although extra udgets were set up for building and improvement funds. D. R. Peterson, charter member of the church was elected moderator to succeed D. A. Emerson who served during the anniversary year. An other action of the church was the granting of a license to preach to Jack Kiekel who has completed his first year of study at Berke ley Baptist seminary. Rev. L. H. Randle will conduct the morning worship service this Sunday in the absence of the pas tor. Rev. Omar N. Barth, who is attending the American Baptist convention sessions in Minneap olis. . In the evening the latest Moody Institute of Science film "The Prior Claim" will be shown. Emphasis Placed On Mission Work Missionary Emphasis Sunday will be observed at the Free Me thodist church Sunday. Mission aries on furlough from Southern Rhodesia, Africa, Rev. and Mrs. Tillman Houser and their children, will be featured in each of the services of the day. At the 9:45 a.m. Sunday school hour they will depict the mission aries entering a heathen village and presenting the gospel story. Rev. Houser will speak at the morning worship service at 11 a.m. and Mrs. Houser will be featured in the Youth Fellowship at 6:45 p.m. Colored pictures of the mission field in Southern Rhodesia will be shown in the evening service at 7:30 o'clock. Presbyterians Emphasize Youth The services an First Presbyter Ian church will give emphasis to young people in high school and college. The High School choir will sing at the 11 o'clock service. Dr. Pol Ing's sermon subjedt will be "The Heritage of Youth."' In the evening the High School Fellowship will have a 7 o'clock vesper service in .the chapel with Dean Mark Hatfield of Willam ette university as the guest speak er. The college group will meet at the manse at 6 o'clock for a supper and a forum period led by Dr. Poling on "Christian Youth in War and Peace." Thought Group To Hold Rally An International New Thought Alliance rally will be held at the Salem Women's club building, 4B0 North Cottage street next Monday afternoon. Dr. Mary B. Prendergast, dis trict president of the Alliance will preside at the healing meeting scheduled for 12:15 p.m. and will give an address in the afternoon and another at night. Several other persons, prominent in the organization, will give talks. A sack lunch will be served at 1:30 with the committee in charge providing coffee. A no host smorgasbord dinner will be served at the conclusion of the afternoon session. Spring Rally At Bush School A motion picture, "It is Finish ed," will highlight the spring ral ly of the Good News Joy clubs sponsored by the Salem Child Evangelism committee on Tues day night at 7 o'clock in the Bush school auditorium, Mission and University streets. Special Misssion Day At Pratum Sunday The Misses Lillian Beutler and Carmen Lyons, missionaries in the work of Jewish Evangelism in Brooklyn and Manhattan, New York, will speak at both morning and evening services of tne Pratum Mennonite Church, Sun day. Both Miss Beutler and Miss Lyons will speak at each service, reporting on the progress, prob lems as well as prospects of Jew ish Evangelism in the greater New York City area. The subject for the evening service: Progress of Jewish Evangelism in Brook lyn and Manhattan, will be sup plemented by the use of color slides. Miss Beutler, a native of the Pratum community, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Beutler of Sa lem, Route 6, and Miss Lyons, a converted Jewess, met in New York where the latter was en gaged in teaching Jewish evan gelism in a special training course. They have been engaged in their present method of work for five years open-air meet ings, street meetings, children's meetings and Bible study groups. The story of their work is full of thrills, excitement and some times of "near riot." Their cour age and persistence is attested by the fact that they are now the only evangelical team holding regularly-scheduled street meet ings in the whole city of New York. Both of these workers receive their support from the Pratum Mennonite church. The church extends a cordial invitation to the public for both of these meet ings on Sunday. PRAYER DAY SUNDAY MT. Pounds Called to Coos Bay ALBANY Services to be held Sunday at the First Church of the Nazarene, Sixth Ave. and Jefferson St., will be the last over which the Rev. Lloyd F. Pounds will preside, it was announced Tuesday. The Rev. Pounds has accepted a call from the First Nazarene church at Coos Bay. He has preached at the local, church the past three years. The Rev. Pounds will be re placed here by the Rev. Forrest Hill of Clackamas. He will start his ministry here June 6.
