In Popularity Tie

Democratic Society decided Satur
day to delay naming the Oregon
Democrat of the Year until after
the May primary election.
The decision was reached after
State Sen. , Richard L. Neuberger
and U. S. Dist. Atty. Henry Hess
each received seven votes in ballot
ing for the title. ,
Mike DeCicco, president of the
society, said after the tie was
announced, "I wouldn't want such
a selection to give one primary
candidate an advantage over an
other."
Neither Neuberger nor Hess has
declared for office but both have
been mentioned as possible candi
