Miss Betty llarlor, grand daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Archie Bowcn, is in the mid-year gra duation class at Pacific College at Forest Grove. Miss Harlor is leaching in grade school at Hillsboro. She is a former Pratum girl, and attend ed Salem high. Those attending the graduation from Pratum were Mrs. Harold de Vries and Mr. and Mrs. Archie Bowen. Pratum Methodist Youth Fel lowship invited parents and friends to their program Sunday night. Miss Carolyn Meyer was the leader. After the devotions and program hour refreshments were served jn the basement. Mrs. Lottie Smith of Portland is staying at the Henry Powell home keeping house for her brother while Mr. and Mrs. El mer Haldcrson are on a trip to southern California and other places of interest. ANGEL The Board of Su pervisors of the Mount Angel Soil Conservation District outlined plans at the regular monthly meeting Tuesday evening, Feb. 2, to hold a meeting in the near future of all the land owners in the proposed Hoffman drainage project, and also to hold other small group meetings throughout the district. The Mount Angel board mem bers will attend a joint meeting at Harrisburg on Friday, Feb. 5, of the Mt. Angel, Silver Creek, Santiam, Linn-Lane, S I u s 1 a w, Umpqua and West Central Lane Soil Conservation Districts. Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Wood, re turned Thursday from a month's visit in Southern California with their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Bcals. Mr. Wood's mother, Mrs. W. E. Tay lor, Drs. Howard, Leonard and Walter Wood and their families. Mr. Wood underwent surgery while there and is much improv ed. They encountered bad driv- ng conditions in northern Cali fornia and frozen water pipes at (heir home, but no serious dam age. Kenneth Stafford was brought home from McMinnville hospital where he was a surgery patient for several days due to a broken heel suffered some time ago. The leg is in a cast at present. Eola Hills will have a two hour earlier rural mail route which started Feb. 1 and the Whiteson area mail delivery out of Amity will be two hours later, accord ing to Amity post office officials. Angel Eyes Sewage Plant I I an. AiotL ine February business meeting of the Mt. An gel City Council took place Mon day evening in the ML Angel CHI Hall. The city disposal plant and sewage system, which has been uppermost in the work of the Council during the past years, was the main discussion of the evening. Representatives of the Mt. An gel Cooperative Creamery, Oscar Overland, president, Frank Hett wer, manager, and directors Frank Poepping, Ed Ebner and Alois Kirsch, together with James R. Boldston of the Oregon State Sanitary Authority met with the Council to discuss the city disposal plant. The Mt Angel City Council men approved a move to seek payment from the Mt. Angel Co operative Creamery for use of the new proposed city sewer sys tem. The council will offer a tentative proposal to the cream ery board, who will submit the proposition for discussion and approval at the annual creamery membership meeting scheduled for Feb. 6. The City council has secured property for the new disposal site, and engineering plans have been drawn and submitted for the treatment plant. . The council approved appro priations of $100 to further the tree planting program started by the City several years ago, which is proving to be a big success. Installation of new type incan descent lights to replace the present old type street lights as they wear our was approved. The Health committee was instructed to investigate sanitary conditions j on Gilles St. Fire Chief Francis C. Schmidt reported that the department an swered one fire call during the month and held two regulation drills. The fire chief announced that Cy Gill, who is well drilled in fire fighting, will hold a one night school in April for mem bers of the local department The Chief and five members attended a fire school at Albany recently.
