Church Women Plan Breakfast Of special Interest for all worn en deleRates to the Oregon Coun cil of Churches Convocation this week at the First Christian church, as well as to local church women, will be the Wom en's 'Breakfast scheduled for 7:30 Thursday morning at the First Methodist church. Mrs. Victor P. Morris, Eugene, wifo of the acting president of the University of Oregon, will speak on "The Church Woman's Besponsibility in World Affairs." Mrs. Morris is recognized as one of Oregon's leading Women speakers in the realm of inter national affairs and the United States. She is a member of the Oregon Council's Social Action Committee. Attending the breakfast will be Mrs. G. Henry Green of Mil waukie, state president of the Oregon Council of Church Wom en who has just returned from a meeting of state presidents in New York City called by the General Department of United Church Women of the National Council of Churches. Other state council officers, delegates to the convocation, will be intro duced by the local council presi dent, Mrs. Ernest . Goulder, who will preside. Reservations for the breakfast may be made with Mrs. J. Edgar Purdy at the office of the First Methodist church. St. Luke's Plans Band tor School WOOD BURN Mrs. Robert Miller, secretary-treasurer of the newly - organized Band Parents club of St. Luke's parochial school, has announced that a first band instruction class will be held at the school for St. Luke's pu pils from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thurs day, Feb. 4, with J. L. Dyrud, band instructor from Silverton schools, in charge. The class is the result of sever al months planning to secure an instructor, instruments, available class time and to create parent and pupil interest. The project was begun by the Christian Par ents club, a committee headed by Mrs. Clair Niblcr working out details of the plan. At a recent meeting in St. Luke's parish hall the Band Par ents group was organized. Killian Smith was named president; Joe Gamroth, vice-president, and Mrs. Robert Miller, secretary-treasurer. The committee met with Dy rud last week to line up instru - ments needed and determine the number of children who would be actively Interested.
