Military Court Will Try Four Adventist Soldiers ANCHORAGE, Alaska l A military court will try four Ft. Richardson soldiers, members of the Alaska Mission of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, on .charges of wilful disobedience of a lawful order of a warrant officer, mili tary authorities said Tuesday. The men originally were charged vith mutiny after their arrest Jan. 30 for refusing to take part in a practice alert on Saturday, Sabbath in the Seventh Day Ad ventist Church. Officers at the Army's Alaska headquarters here said the charges were reduced when in vestigation showed there was no evidence of a concerted effort by the four men to disregard military authority. Officers said the men will be tried late this week or early next week and meantime will be held in the post stockade. The case of Capt. Harry Slugh, Windsor, Ohio, formerly held un der house arrest on an open but he has been returned to duty, charge, still is being investigated headquarters said. Wilson predicts that with clear ing weather, the list will be con siderably reduced by the end of this week. Juvenile Suspect Caught Near Albany ALBANY One of two Denver. Colo., youths, both of whom are wanted in Washington and Colo rado on charges of burglary, was captured early Tuesday near Har- nsburg, but the second escaped when a state police officer forced their car to a halt. Apprehended was Kenneth He berling, 18. The escapee was listed by state police as John McGuire, 20. The arresting officer said the two were traveling south on U. S. highway 99E in a car reported stolen from Vancouver, Wash., when he spotted them at the north Jefferson junction and gave chase. Herbert Smith in an nouncing Wednesday that $228, 121 has been realized in connec tion with $1,000,000 Willamette University challenge fund. "This means that $37,000 must still be raised before any of the funds will be made available from two contingent gifts, amounting to $500,000. The fund will be used in the construction of an auditorium fine arts building and a women's residence hall, plans for which have been drawn. A breakdown of the figures shows that Salem has contributed $140,726 and the Portland metro politan area $83,905. Contribu tions outside of the two metro politan area total $59,940 and Wilamette students have pledged $3550 toward their goal of $10, 000. The first contingent gift of $250,000 to the building fund was anounccd in February when the university program was authori zed by the board of trustees. A second gift, also equalling $250, 000 was disclosed in June. When $650,000 is on hand, President Smith believes the trustees will be justified in pro ceeding with the first two build ings planned. Gift of an Infirmary and health center building to Willamette, honoring the memory of Charles P. and Fanny Kay Bishop, was recently announced by the Bishop family, prominent Oregon citizens and merchants. 70-Year Fisherman Believed Drowned CRESCENT CITY, Calif. I - A Del Norte County sheriff's posse searched Wednesday for Fred R. Neil, 70, of Ashland, Ore., who dis appeared while fishing in Smith River Tuesday. A companion Leonard A. Ander son, also of Ashland, reported that he and Neil had been fishing in separate holes in the river 25 miles east of here. They were to meet at lunchtime.
